Need advice on parting out an 3rd gen

I wanted to get your opinion of parting out a 1993 rx7. I put the car on ebay last week and while it did make the reserve the high bidder couldn't get the loan. So now I'm thinking about parting it out. Pro and cons and any advice you might give me would be great. I'm thinking it will be a headache.

Thanks,

I would sell private party. Not eBay. Use Autotrader and any other websites to get as much visibility as possible.

If you really need cash soon, sell it to a dealer and move on. Parting out takes a lot of time, effort, boxes, packaging, and it's worse if you don't have experience working on your FD. Plus I don't ever like the idea of parting out an unwrecked, complete car with a clean title.

Thanks Dave. A dealer wouldn't touch this thing. It's more of a race car with tags on it than a street car. Nothing on it is stock anymore, no a/c, cage, no radio, no cruise, no oil injection, freaking big turbo, ah you get the idea. I think that is my biggest problem.

Thanks,

Brian

Ask the next highest bidder if they want it. And the dealer may take it for personal use if the owner or manager is into cars like that. it happened when I worked at Toyota.

Interesting. I did offer it to the next bidder, no word yet.

Yep, that is a problem.

sounds like you need to sell off the parts and put it back to stock. always helps the sale. Never convert a car to a track car that you owe money on. That's my motto.

You might have better luck posting it for sale on the SCCA forums or other track oriented forums.

^ good motto.

its hard to sell a car like that unless someone is specifically looking for it. Might want to advertise on cars.com, autotrader, grassrootsmotorsports and race/track day specific forums to see if you can reach the target market of people that would be interested in such a car.

Thanks guys. I don't owe money on it but I just don't want to sell it and lose my butt. And to convert it back to stock would take lots of work and money. Like, new interior, wiring, engine, suspension, a/c, and so on. I think if I did all of that I would want to keep it.
