need advice engine fire / overheat

at robrinette.com in the guide to purchasing rx7... he writes "The car must never have overheated in any circumstance." is that a rule to faithfully adhere to?

What are the experiences of some of you that have overheating/engine fires issues?

What can i do to check if an FD has been properly cared for and repaired for after the incident, and what signs can i look for that existing problems directly linked to the incident have not been resolved.

I've been shopping around for a FD, as a new prospective owner with not too much hands on experience. thanks for your input in advance.

Reason over heating is so bad for our Rotory motors, is because
it kills our coolant seals inside the motor, and everything else
that goes with a over heating a motor, like warping and etc.
Rotories aren't as tolerant to heatk, like a piston motors.

Plus if you over heat while you are boosting, the heat can cause
rotaries to KNOCK, PING, DETONATE and Apex seals get broken,
that can chew up your turbo.

Check for coolant seal issues: Cold start with alot of sweet/white smoke, and continious
white/smoke. After you drive the car around, turn the car off and check the AST for champagne like bubbles. and/or drive the car around boosting around for a while,
see if Add coolant light buzz's, then shut her off (after it cools down) and see if coolant
comes out the coolant overflow container.

Overheating and detonation can be checked by the way the car is idles, if it does.
but only certain way to check for apex seal damage is by doing a compression test.

goodluck
