Mystery hose
 

Where does the lower end of this go? It comes off the driver's side of the air intake box. I'm thinking it just goes to open air?

Yea that lets the Boost pressure get out when the blow off valves are open

Aargh the last things I need to do before starting the car are connect these 3 fuel lines and prime the fuel pump. I have no idea though which lines connect to which of the three nipples on the solenoid rack. I checked the FSM, couldn't find anything that showed definitively where each went. And now I just saw this random hose (at the top of the picture) with one end going to nowhere and one leading away somewhere under the UIM. Where does it connect to?

No one? Alright, connected the fuel hoses, leaving the other one empty, gonna start it.

WE HAVE IGNITION!! Started right up the first time. No overheating issues. Didn't get to gauge boost because the lower intercooler hose popped off while I was driving lol, stayed out of it on the way home. Going to get everything perfect tomorrow. I almost couldn't resist boosting, I haven't driven the car since April 1st! It was amazing, I can't believe I survived so long without it. I'd still like to know what that hose goes to though, it seems to be a vac hose, I can feel a little air getting pulled in at idle. Thanks much to the many who have helped me over these past 11 weeks, I couldn't have done it without you :-)

That hose should be right on the vacuum hose diagram. My guess is it's one of the hoses that goes to the nipples on the back of the UIM.

Well that's the thing, I've checked the vacuum diagram, I'm almost positive I did it all right. I know all the ones on the front and rear of the UIM are right. You can't really tell from the pic, but the one at the top (the one that isn't connected) is much bigger than the regular hoses, at least 6mm. I can barely get my hand into where it connects on the other end, it seems to come from a metal line? Also, after looking inside the disconnected end, I saw there was a plastic coating on the inside.

The lower end of this hose is open to atmosphere, it just tucks under the air filter box. As said above, is is a blowoff exhaust.

The two larger vacuum hoses in that area that I can think of off hand are from the UIM-PVC Valve-Oil Filler Neck and the hoses that come off of the catch can (which attaches underneath the elbow).

Check your vacuum diagram until you find it. It's there somewhere.

^Thanks, found the little ring now. One more thing, the attached end of the hose seems to come from a line in front of and below the UIM. Strange.

Yeah, thought it might go to the catch can, but I have that one on correctly already. It's a real long hose, possibly off the solenoid rack? It's hard to tell, I'll take another look later today.

You are correct. The air pump forces air into the ACV and any unused air is routed back into a special muffler in the top of the stock air filter. Then it exist this mufler to the side and under. Without this little muffler you would get the famous moo-fart sound as the excess air pump air is released.

By removing the muffler from the top of the air filter, you get better air flow through the filter and into the engine. This is a simple mod that also reduces weight. But then you have to listen to the moo-fart sound but it does sound sweet.

To listen to it, remove the ACV discharge hose from where it goes into the airfiilter top.

Hmm, interesting. Well, I guess I'll leave this 6mm hose where it is for now, have Rick's Rotary look at it or something. Still can't figure out where it goes...
