My PFC went crazy on me...

Sorry maybe a bit long, cliff notes at the bottom.

The other night I was putting some break in miles on my motor and I had enough to move up to the next level of boosting small amounts. I had issues with my current PFC map being a little lean in areas so I thought I would make it run a little rich though out the power band by adjusting the PIM. Drove around for a while with about .3 bar of boost, filled up the gas tank, and cruised for about another 10 min. I needed to make a u-turn to meet up with another FD owner and as I did smoke start billowing out. Pulled into a parking spot ASAP and popped the hood to find tons of smoke coming from my turbo also. I thought maybe something had gone wrong with my single so I checked the IC pipe for oil but didn’t see any. I checked out my vac on my PFC commander and it was close to a normal reading at about 380mm of Hg. But I was still idling and reving a bit rough. Then all of sudden it wouldn’t idle unless I helped it and acted exactly like it was blown. I looked down at my commander and I notice about at ¼ throttle and 2k it was reading .7 bar while my boost gauge was readying ~200mm of Hg. Plus my timing was reading as if I was getting on it too. I looked at my map tracer and it was at about n15 X p10 (hope I’m saying that right). I’d had almost gotten my AAA card out when I decided to reset the PFC. I knew I would lose the map my tuner had put on there but it was a pretty rough map just to get me by till I could fix a few things. After I reset the PFC, it idled decently but still would rev a little rough. While I was driving it home I noticed that it was much faster. My turbo seem to spool quicker and the power seemed to come on more smoothly. The next day I pulled the engine, took it apart to find a side seal had been blown out of its place only leaving about 1 inch of it left in the grove. I was wondering if anyone had gotten these incorrect readings from your PFC or had any idea what could cause this?

Cliff Notes: My PFC was reading my manifold pressure wrong and changing my timing a lot with very little throttle. I’m thinking this caused my side seal to be blown apart.

Thanks

damn bro....sucks about the engine. As for info about the PFC i have no experience with them.

there is a power fc page. i have a power fc but know nothing about them. but im learning.

I'm just impressed by the taking it out and apart in 1 day sentence:) I've never heard of anything like that happening with the PFC but who knows. Did you have it logging the drive or anything to see what TPS voltage it was reading?

Ha, yeah, I've gotten good about pulling my motor out quick. I do not have a data logit yet, but i checked my TPS voltages during the whole thing and they were normal.

so the maps sensor reading the ecu was supposedly seeing and reacting to was .7, but the TPS voltage was normal, like when your idling?
