My new wheels and tires - 17x8 Villains and 245x40 Dunlops

Just letting peeps know that I just put on 17x8 Konig Villains (40mm offset) with 245x40 Dunlop SP Sport FM901. They have seen two high speed track events and a few autocrosses and there is no rubbing in any direction.

I love the Konig rims, they look great and are very lite. The new Dunlop tires I am still evaluating, they seem a bit floaty but I may just have had the tire pressure to low on the track.

Either way you can't beat the price, I got the rims for $150 each and tires for $110 each. Got he full mounted and balanced package from http://www.discounttiredirect.com and the shipping was FREE!! ... not to mention the set showed up at my door in only 4 days.

how much do they weigh

Those are one of the only Konig rims I like.

I like how you squeezed the rx inbetween the 5 and 7 :)

very smooth

Nice!!

Very similar to the Advanti Racing Turins I have, light, clean and a really good look.

What profile are your front tyres? I suffer some rubbing of the inner guard running 235/45 17s and am keen to cure it.

Cheers
Shaun

rear one sticking alittle out abit but I don't think it gona rub.
front rubs on the liner when turn allthe way but not too bad..

and I also got killer deal at my local shop I paid 2200 cdn
for wheels and tires..

but this tire has been back ordered for 1month..

Thanks for all the compliments guys.

> shaun.sheldrake - What profile are your front tyres?

I am running 245/40 on all 4 courners with no rubbing in full load/turning.

> Redrotor - Nice I got fm901 yesterday too.

Great, tell me how they perform for you, so far I like em but they seem a little floaty on the track....I will re-evaluate once I get the tread down a bit.

> GsrSol - I like how you squeezed the rx inbetween the 5 and 7

He he, thanks...I thought I'd try and give the plain numbers some pizzaz.

> ttb - how much do they weigh

From the documents I have seen the 17" villians are just over 17lbs... but I can't validate that.

is that 95rx7 on permanantly? the font is kinda plain and it stands out a lot... maybe something smaller would look better.. and a different font/color...

but your rims look awesome.. you got a great deal :0

Don't get me wrong, your wheels look sweet!(very similar to my set up)

I have a question for ya. Why did you choose 17"s instead of 18"s? I myself have 17x8 17x9"s and I am sthinking of getting 18x9"s & 18x10"s.

damian 06-18-02 07:35 PM

>bust - is that 95rx7 on permanantly

no!!! not permanant!! LOL ...they are for autocross and track use only, magnetic stick ons :-)

>>jpandes - Why did you choose 17"s instead of 18"s

too much rubbing problems with 18" on a stock suspension setup, and I didn't want ANY rubbing as I experienced it in my old 93 CYM r1 and it was no fun. You can do a set up with no rubbing on 18s but the room for error is very small. 17s give me some play space with my choice in tire sizes.
