My new Purchase Woes, Your input please
 

As some of you know I posted on here a few days ago. I purchased my 1st FD (1st Mazda as well)

Some of the details of the sale are finally going thru. The car is in impeccable shape and very very clean. With a service record to die for. They offered me a Bumper to bumper warranty from exoticwarranty.com

Now however I found out that the warranty company will not give a bumper to bumper warranty on this car. (over 10 years old)

The original warranty they offered me would have been bumper to bumper for 4 years/48,000 miles for $5092

Now they are offering a warranty for 4 years/Unlimited Mileage for $3,000 but it only covers the Engine, Seals and gaskets, 100% of the electrical and the transmission. (No turbo or anything extra, just what is listed; Engine, Seals and gaskets, 100% of the electrical and the transmission.

The car has 44,000 miles on it roughly… is this worth it? Or should I be steaming pissed because I thought I was getting a B2B warranty and I’m not?

Or should I skip it all and just pay the price of the car with no warranty...

What would you do?

Forget the warranty man. IMO its not worth it one bit.

Same thought. Because they won't honor it and If there is a problem just blame it on somethign else. With that money you can full redo the engine bay.

If you feel that you will be able to work on the car, or have a Mazda specialist in the area, keep the car. If that is not the case, take the car back.

warrantys are usually worth as much (or less) as the paper they are written on. read the fine print carefully. ive been stung by a few warrantys

Not worth it....I purchased an $1800 3-year warranty when I bought my '95 four years ago....I more than made my money on that but it was essentially bumper-to-bumper.

exactly. . . screw the warranty. . . save the money for a time when something actually happens to the car. . . if they arent going to cover the turbos. . . which are STOCK on the car. . . then their warranty sucks anyways!!!

Going through all of the Maintenance records and upgrades on the car. It has basically been babied and had all of the reliabilty mods done very early in its life. The longest its gone without an oil change is 1800 miles. Picture perfect all the way back to mid 1993. I think I will just buy the car with no warranty. Save some money for Rims...haha, For those who read my 1st post, I know you get it....

When I got my car 3 years ago, I purchased a 4 year / 48,000 mi warranty for $1,400. I easily made back my money on the warranty purchase. The price you got quoted for seems a little high. For $3,000, I'd skip the warranty offered and do a little shopping.

With any warranty, read the FINE print carefully because they'll use any excuse they can to avoid paying. Mine refused to pay for my engine because I drove it to get a second opinion instead of towing it.

save the 3k in an investment fund for 3 years, and then when it gets out, buy a new motor with the interest earned !

save the money and do all the reliability mods shouldnt have a problem then
