my irradic boost continues, any ideas?

her eis what is happening, if i leave something out please ask. i have a 93 rx7 with intake dp, high flow cat, cat back, and ecu. i have recently started having a very strange boost problem. when driving down the road in 4th gear i looked at my boost gauge and it was shaking back and forth like crazy. the needle was jsut monvy very fast back and forth in about 1 pund increments, i gave it a little gas and as boost pressrue rose the shaking continued, it was constant shake all teh way up, like from 5-6 back adn forth relly quick and if i gave it more gas from say 8-9. the needle would move back and forth showing vacume like normal jsut with this strange shake. the strange thing is it does not happen all the time, only after i have been driving a while when it gets hot then i will be jsut cruising and will notice it. but if i let off the gas real quickly and step back on it it stops, but willl restart at random a littel bit later. what could be causing this. the only thing i can figure is the wastegate is what contols the boost so it must be fluctuating very quickly, oh yea and wehn i let off the gas slowly, i can hear the BOV going, cha cha cha cha, real fast with the needle, so i know tis not the gauge, sincei can also feel it slightly. any ideas. again if you have any questions please ask, and thanks for all your time and help, scott

Good god, will it ever stop? Sounds like you have the 7 from hell. I just noticed that you have an remapped ECU. This and the combination of the high flow exhaust is a good reason why you would be seing such high boost.

As for the crazy boost pattern, this is normally a sign of a bad solenoid. typically, the turbo control actuator solenoid (vacuum side) is prone to failing prematurely due to heat. Testing this solenoid while cold usually yields correct operation, but if you heat it up you will find that it does not fuction correctly.

The shuttering while letting off the gas has me a bit miffed. I can only think that the same thing that plauges the TCA solenoid also may be playing a role in the operation of the CRV, or the BOV. It may be that the solenoids are fluctuating either by a sticky valve, or a bad connection. I would look for signs of corrosion around the solenoid contacts.

Get a manual. This will save you a lot of guess work.

LOL, thanks spooleduprx7, this is the first problems since i have had it, it was fine before i started adding stuff hahaha, oh well what fun is it to leave it alone :) i will check that actuator again when its hot, it funtioned fine when it was cold as i told you so maybe wehn its hot it will be differant. yea i will look into a manual, that could help, as i have needed one before, but i am to poor to buy one, lol , stupid college, but anyways i will check that stuff later tonight, as for the bov, i believe they are funtioning properly, i jsut meant that i icould hear the irradic boost coming out of them when i let off a little bit, thanks, andi will keep you informed, scott
