MY HIGH BEAM LIGHTS STAY ON WTF!!! help please
 

Ok so i took my gauge cluster out last night and i installed an aftermarket steering wheel. Now when ever i just turn the lights for the cluster on my high beam light stays on its rather frustrating. Anyone know what might be causeing this and how to fix it

Well...logically it is pretty simple. The lights worked fine prior to installing your new steering wheel, correct? And now they don't. So....you messed something up with the multi-switch that controls the high beams, they are on..."on" mode all the time now.
Take your wheel back off, look for broken/pinched/shorting wires.

alright thanks much apreciated. But im still not sure what im looking for on the steering colum.

under the steering column, there are 3 screws that hold the plastic trim in place. Remove those screws, CAREFULLY undo the clips that hold the two halves of the trim together, it will come right off. From there you can see all the wires, ignition switch, etc.

I never paid attention to the headlight/turn signal switches, but I know on the wiper tree, there's a bundle of 3 wires that come off the tree and plug to a connector on the column(it tends to come undone when removing the gauge cluster, hence how I noticed it).

I haven't had the wheel from a FD off to really look, but generally speaking anything electrical, such as turn signals, the horn, headlights, etc have elements that tie into the wheel. Usually there is a split-commutator for the horn, for example (looks like a big copper ring), as well as the devices that work the self-cancelling turn signals.
SOMETHING had to have changed with the left side multi-switch, the switch that controls your headlights 'off/park/main beams' and the highbeams. What happens if you have your lights on and pull back on the stalk in the normal 'flash-to-pass' move? Is the blue 'high beam' lamp on all the time too?
Do all the other functions of the switch work, like can you get just parking lamps only?

When you have the wheel off on an FD, there really isn't anything to look at. There is the clock spring, which looks like a big plastic disc with a little clear window for you to see the spring inside, along with a label for how to align it. Other than that, there are 3 bundles of wires coming out of the clock spring, 1 for the airbag, 1 for the horn and 1 for the cruise(if you have it). The turn signal cancel consists of two small plastic posts sticking up from the disk part of the clock spring, which mate with the two grooves in the back of the steering wheel.

To see anything else, you would have to remove the trim around the steering column and/or the clock spring.

yea the wires on the clock spring for the horn airbag and cruise got sniped no need for them im getting a horn hardwired in anyways. so its got to be somthing with the lever and yes the lights still turn on in order with headlights coming on and brights functional.

havent spent much time tracking it down. But could it have happened becuase i sniped the cruise controll and airbag wire on the clock spring. also could it be something with the gauges light a going blub

I have a similar problem. Two weeks ago my headlights would go on high-beam but not come off until you tried 30 or so times..Not they wont go on to high-beam at all. I have a HID kit - But I don't believe that should make much differance. The high beam light comes on/off on the cluster correctly every time to, so I assume its not a problem with the lever?
Any ideas?

Did you ever solve this problem? I have the same problem now, will be troubleshooting with a voltmeter soon...
