my car runs but needs another weekend to finish getting it right. I just figured i'd snap some shots

i installed the under drives/intake/dp/mp i got off ebay.

car - 7g
intake - about 60
dp/mp - 180 or so
under drives - 60
vac kit x2 - 30
oil change - 15
check valves - 5
spark plugs/wires 50
other bs shit prolly like 100 bucks

so far she's up to around 7500.

i might actually try to keep track of the money i spend on this car.

sorry for a nasty bay but i'm still straighten'n it out from the previous owner.

next ebay item is prolly some really cheap intakes ;)

Good work, looks like a nice project. Isn't Ebay cool? Who cares what brand it is if it works.

theorie 01-25-04 11:37 PM

those silicon couplings split when the get hot... just a warning

Sesshoumaru 01-25-04 11:40 PM

ebay is how i can afford a FC and a FD

and the way i look at it............how can u screw up a 3 inch SS dp, mp, metal intake, and a pully set. It can't vary that much from product to product.

hahaha when they do split i will go home depo racing on their ass..........

Don't bother.........
Sometimes, you gotta dish out the cash and get the GOOD stuff.

theorie 01-25-04 11:54 PM

um so have you upgraded you ECU?

what happened to the rule of 3?

do you have a boost controller?

uh you do know what you are doing right?

Sesshoumaru 01-26-04 12:06 AM

3 mod rule is bs

no actually for ic and other ducting i usually get fuel hose from large trucks.

The 3 mod rule is a little overrated. As long as you can keep the boost at 10 psi you can run pretty much all the bolt-ons. Not saying it's a BAD idea to use the 3 mod rule, but theres quite a bit of research out there to support the argument. :)

OneBadRx7 01-26-04 02:45 AM

Where in Iowa are you from? I am in Dubuque. Also you are going to need some sort of boost controller on that bad boy to limit the boost to 10psi if you are still running the stock ECU.

did you see the picture where he stripped down everything on top of his engine and put it all back incredibly? Do you realize how difficult this is? It's harder than pulling a motor, I think he knows what hes doing and I doubt that you and most others on the forum have ever done any work of this difficulty with such great success.

now it looks like he did the seq simplification. We will have to see if he gets a good boost pattern and if hes able to control the boost to 10psi or lower

93BlackFD 01-26-04 08:21 AM

i see an exposed power wire on your alternator, cover that up! NOW!

johnchabin 01-26-04 08:42 AM

Review of the pullies? Fit ok? Belt the right length?

Which ebay pullies did you buy?

The stripped down engine pic shows no air pump. Did you leave it off?

Thanks,

John

johnchabin 01-26-04 08:45 AM

Oh, I see the air pump is still gone in the "intake" picture. Answers that question.

Trexthe3rd 01-26-04 09:38 AM

The last owner really didn't take care of the car did he?
You might want to put some under carriage stuff on there, bare metal isn't going to last very long.

SWAT81 01-26-04 09:41 AM

very nice keep us updated

i never said he didnt know what he was doing... i was just asking some questions.

i always hear everyone bitching about the 3-mod rule.

i was mainly wondering how he was limmiting his boost because he didnt mention anything about a boost controller in his list of parts...

Sesshoumaru 01-26-04 11:13 AM

right now i don't have a boost controller (costs money :()

so i ran the wg to a vac source (not using solenoids). The standard wg opens around 7psi. I will not have a boost pattern until i get one. Right now i'm not even worried about that. I don't have a guage so i'm def not going to go past vac (that cost money).

I ported the wg also.

The car is going to be immoble for a couple more months.

It is my project.

One of the hardest choices was if is should have rebuilt it since it was almost out. But that costs money (around 700 bucks that i don't have) so that choice was cut short.

The wp/alt pulleys were bolt on. Belt was perfect fit. No air pump. I'm very satisfied.

as for the alt i'll get around to that. That alt doesn't work (took it off my FC). My FC's went bad so my FD got cannibalized :) and there is no bat connected :)

speak'n of undercarriage............

the sway bar got owned by a bolder from the previous owner.........it has a huge bend and the supports are a modern day work of art.

Not a biggie.........upgrade time anyway.

i live in monticello but go to school in ames

johnchabin 01-26-04 11:22 AM

Do you have the Ebay name for the pulley salesman?

Thanks!

Sesshoumaru 01-26-04 11:27 AM

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ht=ebay+pulley

i stated it in that thread and has some good info if you can determine what's fact from fiction.
