My current state of affairs...the gutting.

Well...it's out...finally!

I don't know if a DIY is worth it to put it back in.

Now it's off to Portland for a Pineapple rebuild!

I notice you are in Austin, Texas but chose Pineapple Racing in Oregon to do your engine rebuild. It seems to me that the other notable engine rebuilders: KD Rotary in PA, Pettit Racing in FL, and RotorSport Racing in NC are all about equal or shorter distance from Austin than is Oregon. How did you come to settle on Pineapple?

Well, that *definitely* looks familiar. I went through the same bullshit around April, and had Dave at KD Rotary do the work. I ended up flatbedding the rex to RP to have them drop the motor in...it was too much of a bitch just pulling it out :p.

Too bad I didn't know you were pulling your motor; I live like 45 mins north of you and would've love to help...

I chose Pineapple for several reasons.

1) They use new rotor housings without chargin extra for it
2) They have a stated warranty
3) They are reasonably priced - I'd prefer to have RP in Garland do it, but they wanted big bucks (~$6K w/ labor).
4) After speaking with Rob, I had no doubt about sending it to Portland. He works on the motors himself, he's infinitely helpful and an all 'round nice guy.

I may send it up to RP for the install also...unless you feel like helping put it back IN:eek: . I need to have someone tune it up anyway, and I'm of the opinion that RP is the best in the state and the best thing closest to us anyway.

Thanks for the offer. Now I have to decide what HAS to be done simultaneously with the install. I know for sure I'm replacing the fuel pump, having the injectors blueprinted, Power FC? and maybe getting a A/F gauge. I'm replacing the coolant with Evans and from there I'm clueless.

New clutch, intake, IC, maybe radiator depending on how good the Evans is, etc., etc.
