It sounds great! I used a 45 deg piece of 1" radiator hose (slips tightly over the stock hose), a filter from a Moroso catch can that I have for the CRX, and a battery post cap (red).

there is no need for the filter. i vent mine straight to the engine compartment. not that it matters it is all for show/sound anyways. :D

Why did you put a filter on it? It blows air out, and since it just came out of the turbos it damn well better be filtered air anyway.

I put the filter on there because I read some posts in the archives about people having trouble with oil misting. I haven't had any trouble with misting, but I think a lot of it depends on whether or not your turbo seals are leaking.

From experience on several FDs I've seen anywhere from moderate to pretty serious oil buildup from the misting.. I'd imagine aftermarket BOVs are the same way.. Not all cars do it I don't think, but it's rather common. :)

The factory BOV is open at idle and draws air so if you don't filter it you're pulling in unfiltered air. I verified this last night when I had the airbox pulled and started the car. You can easily tell the bov actually is an intake at idle.

I don't understand doing this "mod" though. Now you have a BOV that does exactly the same job the original BOV did except now it makes noise while doing it. I guess to some noise= teh hotness ;) I have to say this mod is no different than 5" resonated exhaust tips attached to stock mufflers...

Are all oem bovs positioned under the top line that goes into the airbox? For some reason, mine is connected to the top and not the bottom.

You sure? At idle the entire intake tract is under vacuum; it can't possibly do anything other than be closed and do nothing or be slightly open and pull air in. There's nothing but vacuum present at idle.

You sure you're not thinking of the air pump hose leading to the ACV? That one has pressure rather than vaccum at idle.

My Apexi BOV mists oil.....The spot directly above the BOV on the hood has a nice layer of oil on it along with the tubes under the BOV.

Not necessarily, most definately after the TB, but at idle, the turbos are still spinning and pumping some air into the rest of the intake tract. It can't go through the TB obviously, so it needs somewhere else to go.
Has anyone else tried this? Just pull your ABV/BOV off at idle and see if air comes out or if it sucks air in. Then we can figure out if DamonB's car is wacky or if it is mine. :)

Oh yeah, my ACV is long gone.

Mine was blowing air, since even tough the UIM is under vaccuum the turbos are spinning, and don't let anybody fool you, even though they are spinning slowly cause you're at idle, they're still producing some airflow, since it is a tubine spinnig a fan... the exhaust gases are still creating pressure, it just doesn't get used...

it has to do with the height of your idle or amount of vacuum your engine pulls. The bov takes a certain amount of vacuum to open. Once there, if your turbos arent spinning fast enough to keep up with the vacuum requirements of the motor I guess air would enter the bov but if the turbos are spinning freely then it will put out some excess air. If they are just right then nothing noticeable will happen. When I blew the motor on my last fd it would put out a ton of air because I had the idle raised to 1400. After that was fixed it did nothing at idle. Im not sure my ported motor pulled enough vacuum to open it at idle. I could be wrong but this is what ive experienced

not a drop of oil coming out of mine. there is no oil not even in the BOV itself. If i remember right mine does blow a little air even at idle, but it has been a while since I did it.

I have an offtopic question, you see the big box in the right corner of the picture, the straight hose right next to the big ribbed one (for her pleasure i assume) what exactly is that? Mine came loose and i have it held on with black silicon for now, if you could answer my question i would be greatly appreciative. Thank you.

Edit: Its the bottom pic sorry for not being clear.
