Is this normal?

i just pulled my water pump because it was making a weird noise, kind of like dragging. it seems like the pump is touching the water housing????????
theres actually a lip on the housing now where the impeller sits, i dont think its supose to touch.

i does not look normal to me.
was the water pump belt overtightened? cause if it was then it would damage the water pump.

not that tight but it has to be in specs.. theres a belt tension tool thats will tell you how tight the belt is....find out how tight its soppose to be. then adjust it to specs.

If a proper thickness gasket was not used the turbine on the water pump will come in contact with the w/p housing causing you’re situation….
