Is my car pinging?

Now I posted on this earlier but noone really responded, but one person did tell me it might be pinging. So what I did was change the spark plugs. Still I get this click once or twice under hard acceleration in first and second gear, not at a stand still rev and not while running it through 4th and 5th. at first I thought it was coming from the bov but still am not too sure only because around the same time I noticed the click I noticed that my stock bov sounded as though it is hissing much than it would before such as hissing while just cruising up a slight incline or hissing while slowing coming off of a light. Also theres more of a whine to the turbos but the car doesnt seem to have lost much power at all. I do not have a boost gauge but I am very quickly seeing the usefulness of one. The Question is: what is going on with my car.

Engine is Blown... thats the only explanation.

^^ lol.. either a crazzy boost leak or blown motor.

Yes I know its funny and true that people jump to the worst conclusion but is there any usefull (no offence) input?

With an N1 exhaust how do you even hear any of that?

Seriously though, get the boost gauge. That should narrow it down quite a bit.

How does it run at idle and off boost?

adidashatesnike 10-06-04 08:01 PM

at idle it runs very normally.

honestly it is very hard for online diagnosis of problems when you dont have all the monitoring tools neccesary.

clicking could come from so many sources

Thanks anyway.

Where in FL do you live?

I didnt think you could really hear a car "ping" because you need a sensor that detects the high frequency of the detonation? I may be wrong.

If you are hearing an actual metal hitting metal ping it's probabily something loose in your engine bay.

Does anybody have a link to that video of some guy pinging on the dyno?

I tried searching for it a while back and didn't come up with anything... I hope it didn't get killed during the last forum upgrade.
