marc, what is the pn for the coils you used? are you replacing all coils or just the leading? id like to know your setup as im thinking about replacing them all as well.

thanks,
paul

oh, and david garfinkle has his relocated to the drivers side fenderwell. . . i dont know the exact location. . . i can get pictures later. you can call him and he could walk you through his setup if you like (615)893-4469

im putting mine where the a/c compressor used to be.

Im running a MSD digital 6 plus on the leading and a DIS-2 on the trailing. I have replaced both the leading and trailing. Not 100% sure how i am going to set it ip but i have some ideas. Id love to see some pics of the coils mounted on the Fenderwall or where the A/C bracket once was.

can i use msd coils with the stock ignitor? my rear trailing stopped working :(

silver3rdgen 04-01-04 09:27 AM

mounted mine on a large flat T shaped aluminum bracket under the brake booster.

I mounted mine on the finder wall infront of my plugs. I dont have any a/c or really anything to get in my way so it wasnt that hard for me.

DO any of you guys have pics?

mmonaco 04-01-04 11:12 PM

up and answer my question! post his pics too :)

The way I have mine wired right now everything plugs into the stock drivers side harness, with the ignitor in place. Im fairly sure you need the ignitor cause it tell the coils when to fire as the CAS tells it where it is.

mad_7tist 04-03-04 09:10 AM

yea you need the ignitor clayne has a coil relocation project look for it

Mahjik 04-03-04 09:20 AM

Look how clayne relocated the stock coils, it may give you some ideas:

I welded a bracket to the BMK stock location battery case so that I would have two really tough lead coils (CraneCams LX91s) that wouldn't get burned up by the Jacobs RotaryPack ignition amp (which tore up two expensive stock lead coils).

Can you post on how to wire the 2 MSD coils? I have some breaking up at high rpm with 14psi and I was thinking of going with MSD, since I dont' have 500 for HKS twin power one.

The HKS is a CDI (ignition amp) which isnt the same thing as a coil..

The AEM CDI is alot cheeper then the HKS...I got mine for 350 bucks.

BoOsTin FD 04-05-04 12:27 AM

well yeah, I made a mistake. I need and ignition amp. MSD 6a or something.
