Motor is Driving Me NUTS!!
 

Alright, some of you may remember I thought I had a blown coolant seal. Now, I got my car back from my mechanic (who f*cked up my interior) but thats another story. Anyways, I was determined to try to figure this dam thing out! So I fill it with pure pure coolant, turn it over in 2 turns, and it idles. Is a car with a blow seal supposed to idle? Anyways, I cut up a rubber garden hose stuck into the top of the water pump, and the other end with a funnel, added water and waited for bubbles. And waited, and waited and got a few big belches, but then stops, then a few later. Now the car had almost no coolant before so this maybe just air pockets. No fine champage like bubbles. Vacuum is between 13 to 11 (im ported), idle is between 850 to 1000. Usually holds pretty firm at 900 to 1000. I plan to do a compression test next. *sigh*

Is there any water coming out of the exhaust? If not that `s a start!
When idling, if smoke is black that = rich, blue = oil burning, white with sweet smell= coolant O-ring, and white while under boost = detonation/lean

Compression test will be helpful at this point. However, make sure that all the air pocket are out before driving. Fill up the coolant reservoir and then fill up the motor from the filler next...leave the cap off the filler neck...after a few hrs. go back and fill it up again. Do this procedure for about 3-5 times, leave it open at night while you sleep and fill it up in the morning. Road test and check the temp guage while you drive.

Thats my problem its losing coolant from somewhere that I can not find. Im running rich on idle, since its black and it makes it hard to try to smell the sweetness of coolant. Thats why Im trying to add PURE PURE coolant no 50/50 bs so It can stand way out. My problem is finding the leak. IF its not the coolant seals leaking.

Pressure test the cooling system.

BTW, a rotary engine with bad/damaged coolant seals will idle and drive actually.

Smoke on startup? or more smoke once it begins to warm up? Startup smoke is puddled up coolant in the block.....no smoke on startup, but smoke slowly begins to build up is bad turbo seals.

Won't go through a drop of coolant while sitting, but seems to lose coolant while driving.....turbos. Loses coolant over night while not started....motor.

get it pressure tested the "bubble test and hose bullshit" all justways around doing it the right way which is a pressure test. if you are realy in doubt also get some block tester from napa

Say you pressure test it and a turbo seal is bad, wont the coolant go into the exhuast? And say an o-ring is bad won't the coolant end up in the exhuast? Wouldn't you have to pull the turbos but leave the coolant lines connected to properly detect the leak?

Well I just gave in, and took it over eto lopez racing. Heard good things, so lets see.
