More pictures and is it rebuildable?
 

My thread was closed...so heres the link, it now has two pages of pictures. I'm sure its totalled, but do you think that its rebuildable within the money that they'll give me?

Looks pretty fixable to me.

Don't part it out by any means, that's such a fucking waste for other's gain.

This will be a test of your dedication to getting it fixed and is going to require a lot of hard work.

naw...my catback was all I had and it was bent...but the friggen motor is only 2Kmiles old and has a 3yr warranty. I need a car with no motor for cheap...I wish I could just rebuild this one.

my worry is that the sunroof is popped up on one side and not the other and when we tryed to put it down, it doesn't fit that well...don't know how visible that is from the pictures.

I highly suggest you seek advice from turbojeff on the first place to start.

have you checked if the chassis is bent ?

It looks fixable to me just depends on how easy the panels and stuff are to get hold of and price.

If your dedicated enough I recon you could fix it.

Just check the chassis if its bent/twisted if it is you would have to put the car onto a Jig to get it straightened. and that is alot of money !

May even be cheaper buying another rex and swapping the bits over, engine ect….

Find a automatic FD with a blown motor but good body and swap your shit in there. All those body panels will really kill you on the price

I PMed TurboJeff...as for the chassis- I dunno, i talk to the body shop guy tommorow and he may not have gotten it on the alignment machine by then...so I'm not sure when I'll know. As for buying another, I can't find one that seems like it would be any more thrifty than fixing mine so far. and about the frame- I have friend whose dad owns a bodyshop and he has a frame straigtner...so it won't be free, but cheaper than for an average person.

I really don't see a point in fixing it. Yea it's another 7 off to the salvage yards (which sucks) but if you did rebuild it chances are it'll never drive quite right again. What will really tell the tale is puting it on a frame rack and seeing how that checks out. If there's any frame damage you really shouldn't bother.

Ok, I think what your question is: Will you be able to buy the car back from the insurance company, and use the rest of the settlement money to fix the car?

That ain't going to happen unless you do most if not all the work yourself. MANY years ago, I wrecked my 300zx, (the front left was damaged... so left fender, bumper, hood, few other things,) it cost me a little over $4000 at a body shop to have it repair and painted to look new again. Compared to what you have done, it's going to cost you a new FD to have that repaired at a body shop.

Unless you want a project to do yourself, put the accident in your past and move on. Leave the car with the insurance company.

Sorry Redneck but this isn't a project for the 'do it yourself-er'. Mahjik's right. If you wanted to buy the car back for parts (new engine), that might make some sense depending on the price. But it would make NO SENSE to fix it.

kinda what I figured (can't fix it within my means), but I just really want to. Yes I am fine and it was one hell of a ride...the whole time I could hear crushing metal and I was like "dammit, dammit, dammit..."

So what happened? Second turbo come on in a turn or something?

damn the backend looks completely shifted, so unless you have something to pull it back, maybe some HYD power or something it may never drive striaght again.

friends dad owns a body shop that buys wrecked cars and sell them. They have a big frame straighning machine...I've seen it in use on a new f-150 that looked like it was crab walking...and afterward it was like new...sorta. Anyway, I'm figuring that my car's done for. Where should I look for a rolling chasis that needs interior and drivetrain but has no body damage?

Bingo, thats what I meant.. Damn.... First day back to work, im still gone...

as for what happened...yeah, I hit the gas coming out of turn and it came in boost, lost the rear end, hit the ditch, flipped twice and I landed in a farm field on my wheels, facing where I just came from, with no back windshield and my shotgun laying across my neck.

It looks fixable, by a pro.

The unit-body is definitly bent & will have to be straightened on a chassis-pulling jig.

If you have a place to store the car & buy-back from the insurance company is reasonable, then by all means, keep it.

Make a project out of it, tear it down to the unitbody & built your dream FD:)

or just move on, it is your money.

The dream thing is what I'd love to do (slowly put every single exact part I want on it and in like 2 years have the ultimate 7 for me)...but where to keep is the real issue. If I can't fix it with the insurance money right now then I can't do it becuase I don't have anywhere to keep the non moving chasis...if it drove, i'd be fine, but the right rear tire/wheel/suspension is funky...

It doesnt take a genius to do that math and figure out how expensive it will be to fix it. You can either lose $10,000+ or gain $10,000+. lol, its easy math.

Just about anything is "fixable". However, "fixable on a limited budget paying for labor", nope.

Was the car paid for or do you have a lean on it?
