Untill now my fd has been completely stock,I didnt want to do any mods untill the motor was toast(no need in speeding up the process :) )Now the motor is gone :(
But now time to mod. :) My engine and turbos are now at BNR getting a street-port and upgraded twins(stage3)Now with money to burn what would you sugest? V-mout or F-mount? I have searched but not many people running V-mounts,espically with BNR upgrades. My question is let it burn and just get a FM or burn it and get a V-mount. It is not my dd, it might go to the track on occasion and I wont be autox-ing it. Before I get "you need this first or you need that first",I know. Just intercooler suggestions. :)

lots of people would probably tell you to use the search function, because of the overdone intercooler vs topics already discussed. but i wanna share my opinion:

i would go v-mount. i just went with a large stock mount intercooler (similar to asp/m2), but if i can start over i wouldve gone v-mount... i think the v-mount is the most optimal set up.

large stock mount upgrades (asp,m2,pfs,greddy and blits smic) are great... anything is better than the stock one. but the way the v-mount is positioned, it functions just like a large smic, but with better air passageway and less prone to heatsoaking.

front mounts are great, for eyecandy as well. but most will argue with water temps being higher since the fmount is totally in the way of the radiator. a way to help the higher water temps is to get an upgraded radiator or a vented hood. on the plus side, fmounts are huge, and get direct air for low air intake temps. another con side to add: longer tubing and bends on front mounts supposedly will have drop pressure/ more lag. but i believe it is very minimal.

good luck on your choice, what ever you go with i'm sure you enjoy. anything is better than stock.

thanks for your input. Like i said i did a search about what is better, vm vs. fm vs. sm. They all have advantages and disadvantages,this is more like with the BNR upgrades and what I will be doing with the car is it worth getting the V-mount or not? Not which one do you think is better. angain thanks for your input :)

if you are going to track the car a lot then the Front mount may not be your best option due to it blocking the radiator.

Front mounts are good because youll get the lowest air temps

Just to complete that last sentence... Front mounts are good for drag racing because youll get the lowest air temps

front mounts can be fine when ducted correctly, i am upgrading to single and im going to go vmount because its the best of both worlds and its stealthy.

V mount

I know I am getting a V-mount, best of both worlds, plus I live in El Paso with very high ambient temps. With with a V-mount

I have only seen v-mount's for sale by rotary extreme. Anyone else selling the v-mount setup? I am struggling with the same issue. I want to upgrade from the stock IC this summer.
