Modding question
I already posted this question before but i wanted to go a little further with the upgrades.
From what I understand running a CAI, catback exhaust, and downpipe would be fine as long as you have a boost controller to control the flow. Just so I could get the entire exhaust done at once, I was wondering if I could throw in a midpipe as well, and still be running safely. :dunno: |
No, with a midpipe you will get creep until you port your wastegate. The boost controller won't help you stop creep.
This is pretty basic stuff, have you read the FAQ? |
I may either have misread or read over that part.
I thought the boost controller would have cured the boost creep problem. Thanks. |
no. boost creep is caused when the waste-gate cant flow enough. the way a wastegate works by diverting exhaust gasses away from the turbo.
A boost controller opens the wastegate, but if the wastegate cant flow enough... it doesn't matter. |
Nope, it is my understanding that you get boost creep when your turbo control system is wide open trying to divert exhaust from the turbo, and it still increases in boost. I've been told the solution is to port the wastegate. OR get a pfc, fuel pump, injectors and make a lot of power!

thanks guys. I just read a whole article on this issue.

I was thinking about getting a downpipe and wanted to know if it would increase detonation
or boost increase in my stock engine. Does anyone has any suggestions? -newbie |

You'll be fine. That's what's called a smart/reliability mod.
