Missing hook on UIM

I'm gonna pull my engine to fix the damn busted o-ring, the thing I found missing was the hook on the UIM that I'm supposed to attach the chain. :( Is there another way to pull the engine without that hook, if not anyone knows the part number? Cant seem to find it in the parts diagram.

BTW, the other hook near the oil filler neck is present.

I don't necessarily recommend this, but you can use the studs on the LIM with some large, thick washers to pull the engine. A friend and I have done this in the past without any ill effects.

lol, I know that picture... That was me and another forum member pulling a local guy's engine. :rlaugh:

BTW, that's not me under the hood there in the pic.. ;)

i had the same problem last month... what i ended up doing was taking out a tranny bolt (near where the hook should be). then i took the hook off of the end of the chain, and threaded the bolt (it was a slightly longer one that i found at ACE to make up for the thickness of the chain) through the last eye of the chain. tightened it down a bit (but not too much) and pulled the engine... it worked just fine and was balanced similarly to how it would be if you had the hook. i was able to pull the engine almost entirely myself (with a bit of help with manuvering from my dad). -heath

Thanks for the advice guys, I think I might just try the tranny trick, looks pretty stable to me. I also have a Miata, although the hooks on the miata looks a little puny. Any of you think it'll work?

Mahjik: I lifted that photo from one of your posts, please dont sue me. :b

Yea, if a few washers and a bolt on a LIM will work, that Miata hook will work.
