MidPipe Question
So I'm wondering whether or not you can safely run a midpipe with the following modifications:
Mild Streetport Tuned PFC Apexi Intake HKS DP HKS Ti CatBack Stock Turbo/Wastegate Denso TT Fuel Pump Injectors 720x1200 I've seen a lot of conflicting information. I do plan on going BNRs/Ported here soon but I have a resonated mid pipe in my garage and want to see what it's like on the car. |
You will very possibly see boost creep without the waste gate being ported. What do you have for a cat/mid pipe now? Maybe if you have stock intake/intercooler that will be enough to keep the boost in check. Is your boost level pretty solid now?
This really is one of those questions that nobody can straight up answer yes/no to, the answer is a definite "maybe". |

I think it'll be fine. You'll be running more than 10 psi thought. When I took mine off, i saw between 12-14.

Again, it depends. The tuner could have set up those cells in the PowerFC.
If you hit higher than normal boost for a second you won't hurt anything. You would really need an AF gauge to make sure the levels are good. If you just want to try it out to see how it sounds (and SMELLS) you could easily drive around part throttle with it. Sustained high boost pulls is what can kill an untuned engine. The stock main cat is the most restrictive part of the system, opening that up opens the engine up wide. Dale |

I appreciate your response.Thank you. |
When I removed the cat and and went with a resonated midpipe , there was a noticable difference in A/F ratios after the change and I ended up retuning it

Full exhaust on any twin turbo car has the potential to boost creep. There is little power to be gained at that level. I'd leave the cat or wait until you are able to port the wastegate. Also, you will definitely need a retune to be safe.
