Metal rubbing noise from clutch
 

After I put my new engine in, with the tranny attached I found that I could not get the little metal spring/ring thing (clutch release collar?) to stay put so I got a new one and dropped the tranny (oh joy) and put the new one on and then used the other technique of attaching it first and then bolting the clutch cover on after it is all back together. This worked great, and it stays now but at first it made noise when I had it in gear with the clutch pushed it. I though maybe it was not fully dis-engaging the clutch so I adjusted the rod on the pedal. Now it does not make noise when it's pressed all the way in but it does make the noise about 2/4 of the way down. Sounds kind of like a schwwwtttt kind of metalic sound. Any ideas? Thanx!

Metal rubbing noise? I would normally say pilot bearing, which I think my pilot bearing is screwed from when I put my tranny back in like a week ago. But mine makes a noise when the clutch is out. Hopefully I can get my car up to KDR to have Dave fix it for me. Because I dred taking the tranny out again and worst of all putting it back in. Did you bleed the slave cylinder before it made the first noise??

Hmm, at what point did I bleed the slave? I don't recall if I did it before or after, I would say before I think.

Yeah I bled my slave cylinder after I started my car up for the first time with the tranny, new flywheel, new clutch in. just because I kinda forgot to when I was putting everything back together. I just wanted to make sure that you not bleeding the slave before you started it wasn't the cause of the noise you heard. Or you bleeding the slave didn't make the noise go away.

Another words, I didn't know if say you forgot to bleed the slave, maybe something wouldn't have been adjusted correctly, and maybe leading to the noise you heard.
