Basicly it is the member that joins the diff. to the sub frame and also the piece that will give you hella trouble if you get some mad wheel hop. It will eventually crack under the stress put on it from the jumping motion delivered to it by the tires and will give you a wierd vibrating feeling from the rear (drive terrain area) of your car. In Goodfellafd3s's case a violent rattling from the rear of the car during hard acceleration. All in all its just something else that will eventually break on an Fd ;) . The MazSpeed is just a re-enforced ver. of the OE piece that will hold up to more abuse.

Not reinforced. It's supposed to be made of a slightly stronger alloy compound. Or, as most feel, it's the RED paint that makes it stronger. :D

i feel that an upgraded PPF is kinda useless. just get rid of wheel hop from the begining (M2 Trailing Arms/Toe Links, new bushings, or KAAZ LSD) and you will have nothing to worry about. the PPF wont break if there is no wheel hop. also, Mazdaspeed claims that their PPF is a whopping 10% stronger over the stocker.

is it worth the $350 for the Mazdaspeed PPF, or is a can of red spray paint for $3.50 a better deal? ;)

Welp, JoeD, I have the M2 trailing arms & toe links AND Jim's full set of bushings. Wheel hop still occurs. :(

I got my MS PPF just to fill out my mod list. :D

why dont you invest in a KAAZ LSD?? say  to wheel hop, and make the car a little more nimble at the autocross too. :)
