mazda reman warrenty

Anyone have any issues with gettin a new reman when the one they sent you blew? They try to give me some shit and said they warrenty wasnt coverd because i had a pfc and other modifications. Just wondering if anyone else had a hard time getting there warrenty.

yep and I told them that a motor with 110K ran 40k with those same mods without blowing up. I will never NEVER by another mazda reman. It's best to know what went into your engine.

they ended up replacing the engine anyway but told me that if I filed for a warranty again they wouldn't warranty the motor.

That motor lasted 13K.

I then bought every part necessary to have it rebuilt.

Why would you expect Mazda to honor a warranty when you use aftermarket parts with it?

I'm aware there is a law preventing mfrs from ducking whenever there are any aftermarket parts on a car (i.e. dampers), but that doesn't apply when the mods affect engine function. Most bolt-on mods and all ECUs directly affect engine function, so that law really doesn't apply.

Not all remans are the same.....some have more reused parts than others. IMHO you should allways wait for one that has new housings.

+1 What dgeesaman said.

You've got an ECU where there are user control functions to change factory settings that directly affect the engine. Why would you expect them to honor a warranty?

What modifications do you have besides the PFC?

Id like to know how you guys think you can "wait for a reman with new parts", or even find out what went into it. Remans do have build sheets specifying part content and specs, but to my knowledge theyre not available to customers. I've never seen or heard tell of this happening, except for those ultra rare japan-assembled shortblocks that Malloy was selling a while back for a bit over 4 grand.

I have been waiting a while for my motor. The reason is because I told Ray that I want one with new housings. So if you ask you shall recieve.

we got em too, seems like when they run out of core peices they buy new motors from japan, and sell em as remans. so its sort of a crapshoot, well its better now, the new remans usually get rotor housings now, id say like 80+% of the time, as they should rew's are hard on rotor housings....

Mazda remans were pretty good for awhile now since they switched builders, their QC sucks. I have had remans show up here with 7lbs on the the tension bolts. More than once.

I just had my 2nd reman replaced under warranty with no problem.
[I had the first reman motor for 1yr w/ minor pinched o-ring]
Upon the request for the replacement, they didn't ask me anything.
Only problem was that it took them few month to get the motor from the suppier.

Alot of my Subaru buddies warranties are voided on installation of a boost controller. And for Mitsu guys any suspection of race activity and it is voided.

RE Suzuki 05-13-06 05:40 PM

^^ why bother telling the dealer "what kind of modification you have on the car" ?
