Mazda option pedal cover set?
Anyone ever heard of this? Part number is F138-V8-210, Mazda North America actually lists it in their system, and Mazdacomp has it in their catalog, but it's no longer available.
Found a Japanese web page with pics by Googling the part number - http://fiato.hp.infoseek.co.jp/FD3S/diy20050619.htm Looks to be an aluminum cover for the dead pedal to make the pedals match. Pretty sharp looking! Another rare part? Dale |
Never seen one before. I wonder if they were made for USA models?
|
Mazdacomp lists it in their online competition parts catalog, and it's in the US system, so it must have been available in the US at some point.

I bought the foot rest cover - but it would not fit on the LDH foot rest.
|
Didn't David Breslau aka Widefoot Racing make a dead pedal cover? I thought he did and I'm thinking Goodfella has it on his car...
|
I think a set went on sale a while back. Im pretty sure no one has bought it yet. Rich was actually going to pick them up but I think he decided not to at the last minute.
I'm actually looking to update my pedals as well. Im just looking for a pedal extender :(. If I can find the thread all post it up for ya. I think I might have bought an SMIC from the guy as well. |

Pretty sharp looking! Another rare part? Dale Here are some other Mazda Deadpedal parts from other cars: B30K-V8-210* FOOT REST, ALUMIN. (avail probably MS-3 USA) F138-V8-210* PEDAL, MAZDA ACCY (NLA JDM RX-7) F146-V8-210* PEDALS - CHECK INV (B/O JDM RX-7)(most likely NLA) N053-V8-210* ALUMINUM - MKTG TEST PROD (NLA) FE01-V8-210* ALUMINUM FOOT REST-DRIVER (avail RX-8 USA) NE51-V8-210F* ALUMINUM FOOTREST, MT/AT (avail probably MX-5 USA) Some of these are probably Mazdaspeed parts for RX-8 (FE01) and MX-5 so availability should not be an issue and fitment could be none probable cleaner than my Sparco Alum. pedel cover route. P.S. F146 is also a possibility as it is an even later RX-7 version. FYI Mazdaspeed members; you can enter partial part numbers entering first 4 digits for specific body or engine series parts, middle two for system, middle and last for all parts of a certian type. I need to fina and post the Fxxx numbers for each version of RX-7 starting with FD01 .. |

In my personal book making it work could range all the way to using the original JDM item to texture a new mold so as to cast a new one. Sometimes in my book money is no object.
That said you can pick up the RX-8 and MX-5 aluminum dead pedals for about $17 each. |
I got one from sled hammer a while back.
|
Looks pretty nice. I made my own for all three of my FDs. Match is almost exact.
Later |
FWIW I bought just the dead-pedal from AutoVation. They will sell it alone. If anyone is interested, I'll try to post up a picture of it installed, but this is the version I have. IIRC, ~$30 shipped.

looking at the Japenese pic will show that it will not work on US versions as it is different than ours...

And it won't work why? Unscrew two screws, throw away plastic piece, lay aluminum plate over existing plastic footrest in best position, drill two holes, removed plastic footrest, bolt on aluminum, remount footrest.
That said the Autovation set looks nice! |

I don`t understand. A footrest flush with the floor is not a footrest.

I am saying mount alum cover from newer model on to the existing plastic foot rest. Throw away the new plastic underpiece.
What is the 'new plastic underpiece'? The RHD cover is shaped completely differently from the LHD foot rest and would look plain stupid screwed on to it. |
I must have missed the thread about the Mazdaspeed footrest outperforming the oem one ;)

10 hp; I could swear I was sold 12 with 15 minute bolt up!
|
Yeah, if some people weren't such cheap bastards, they'd know it makes the car handle better too. :)

Sorry - but I still have no idea what you are talking about.
