mazda dealerships are BS

i was supposed to buy my very first rx7 from a private party on the 20th. the car was under warranty through a mazda dealership and went in to get the fifth gear syncro replaced before i bought it. well its already the 26th and they have still yet to get close to finishing the job. i could have dropped the tranny and done the work on it faster than these POS workers. now im not bad mouthing all mazda guys cause im sure that there is a few here, but these guys at this shop are BS. im about to look around for another RX7. id hate to upset the guy that i am supposed to be buying it from, but this has gotten out of hand. sorry guys just venting. now i see why no one takes there cars there. oh yeah, when he got a brand new mazda motor through mazda it took 3 months to put it in!!!!!!!! WTF

Welcome! :wavey:

LOL I'm sorry. That's all I have to say. These fockers will never change. Mazda needs to completly revamp their service departments. :(

Yeah, I think the dealer that you are at is particularly bad, given that your other post shows a 15-20% markup on parts over other dealers.

Mazda does have some dealer issues. However, I think most dealers suck, Mazda or not. The fact that RX7 are more complex than typical cars doesn't help either.

I would try to find out what's holding them up (waiting for parts, tech's sick). If it really takes too long, see if you can take it some other place to do it. I don't think you want to shop for another RX7 right?

I think dealers sometimes perform warranty work last bc they get paid more for non-warranty work. Also, they don't make money on parts that are under warranty.

I can't stand any of my Mazda Dealerships around here, they all suck. If I bring my car to get something fixed they end up breaking something else or completely fu!@ it up.

Suggested retail price throttle body O-ring = $14.25
Was that from Jim Ellis Mazda in Marrieta?

Most dealers (all makes) are pretty competitive with aftermarket when it comes to "hard parts" like tune-up stuff, brakes, etc. Never had a problem getting tune-up stuff at a dealer. It's those one-of-a-kind special parts where they have you by the scrote.

The problems is the availability of Mazda rotory techs. Not all Mazda dealerships have them.

If they say they have one.....interview the tech. Ask him (or her) a rotory techie question in regards to the fuel injection system. Start off with the PD problems...see what they say. Then go on from there.

I had noticed that the specialty shops cost almost the same, but offer more comprehensive knowledge that the dealerships....

Good hunting!!!

It's not Mazda's fault. It's FOMOCO in general.

Find a tech who owns and drives an FD :)
