Maybe time to let my '93 R1 go?

Seemes like a good place to throw this out...

I am the orginal owner of a '93 Mica Yellow R1 with 18kish miles...never smoked in, never abused, never modded, no paint work, always garaged.. even has original Expedias with good tread to attest to non-abuse..... 40 something owner...

Rarely get to use her..was going to keep forever, I'm out of room and would entertain selling.. GODD HOME a must.. I'm very serious.. I don't need to sell her...I have three other toys and little time .. and as much as I love the car a 670hp 930 tends to get the nod, plus it glazes the cylinders whren I don' drive it all the time...

Any good homes out there??

You would be looking at $25-$30 with the right buyer. Sounds like a gem.

Bone stock? wow... if I didn't already have one, I'd buy yours. Good luck on the sale, and PLEASE be very picky to who you sell it to. It deserves a good home, and a good new owner.

Good Luck with the sale and i am sure you will have plenty of people calling you. Honestly i wouldnt take any less than 23K for it.

I'm looking for a good non-molested FD to take care of, a R1 CYM thats actually in good shape would be great!

Unfortunately, I'm in NC, and my finances arent in order just yet, so it'll probably be long gone before I have the chance :(

Please don't sell it to anyone under 25. Sounds like a great car. Probably worth at least $22k

In the past we saw a 19K mile CYM get sold to a guy that took it apart and put a 3-rotor in it.

Then we saw another 15,000 mile CYM get sold to a kid that blew the engine up within weeks.

I guess the value of the remaining cars keeps going up!

just to give you a perspective, in February of this year I bought a MINT 93 R1, CYM just like yours with 44,000 miles

I HAPPYILY paid $19,000 for it, and if i hadn't bought that one I would have happily bought yours for $25-27000... DON'T SELL IT for less than 25, you're just getting ripped off for anything less.

I would definitely buy your car and give you anywhere from 22-25K for it right now if I had room in my garage for another car. The way things are going for me right now I don't have time to devote to owning and keeping up the care of such a mint condition FD otherwise I'd be all over your car! Don't be too eager to let it go. Give it some time and someone (hopefully who knows what they're looking for) will give it a great home. If you still have the car in another year or so, maybe we can talk then :bigthumb: ... can you post any pics of this unmolested beast of yours???

Last year a man was selling his Mint 93 Vintage Red Touring with 6,300 miles. He was asking $25,000. My friend offerd him $23,000. The man did not sell it and decided to keep it. not to jack his thread but this could probably help him out. what do people think the price of this car will be in in 10 years? if most people say more you should just keep it. it doesnt sound like you really need to sell it and it may be a good investment.

my opinion is that the only fd's that will be worth alot of money in the future are totally stock ones with low mileage.

prices of cars like this don't generally follow blue book or used car trends...if the condition of this car stays as is for the next 10 years, it could still sell for over 20K or more as long as someone is willing to put forth the cash. By what I'm thinking, this thing will be even more rare in 10 years because the number of running FDs decrease everyday (and there weren't many to begin with) and in 10 years who knows where some of the current FDs now will be...accident? junk yard? some abandoned barn in the midwest? :D If you had this pristine running FD 10 years from now, I wouldn't be surprised if someone offered 30K for it. I wouldn't but someone will...just hold onto it but don't be quick to turn down a good offer if one comes along.

Keep in mind the effects of inflation. An average good condition FB evens sells for 25% of its original value due to inflation. So an FD (which is extremely rare in comparison to an FB) would sell for quite a bit. Right now it is approx. 50% of its original value. and I think the drop in value has plateau'd and the value is on its way up.

I agree, FD prices seem to be creeping back up a little....there still aren't really any cars in the price range that can match the overall performance

My brother got the best deal on his. 1993 touring, only 29,000 owned by a 77 year old woman, only $16500!

I love these stories about old women driving pristine condition cars that they just let go without knowing too much of what it's worth. Or the old women who's husbands passed away a while back and his car is just sitting in the garage all covered up with low miles and she sells it cheap just to free up space. (That's how Jay Leno gets some of his collector cars for a fraction of what it's actually worth) Awesome buy!

I would leave the beast sheltered, could only imagine the value these cars will have when we finally hit classic status (Based on the 21 rule, I think we should qualify already due to low numbers).

Could you imagine this car on Barret-Jackson 10 years from now fetching more than the original MSRP was on it.

yeah i always watch barret jackson with the hope of seeing a FD up for auction :D

that's tough considering most cars on Barret Jackson are American muscle or high end exotic Euro cars, and those occasional crap cars that sell high do to movie fame status. I haven't seen many, if any, Japanese car on B/J before.
