mAX POWER ON STOCK MOTOR???

Whats The Max Wheel Horsepower You Should Go On The Stock Motor Without Blwoing It???

Mahjik 12-04-06 01:56 PM

Its not so much the power, but how you get the power out of the motor that the problem. Quite of a few single turbo guys have done 450rwhp or so on stock reman motors without issues.

ive seen 420 at 16-17 psi on t78....nicktelo did this but ive heard u can et more..( and this was on pump)

ridiculously off topic but this was the first thing i thought of when i saw the title of this thread
max power

Mussssnnn't TOUUUUUCHHH

you're boost on a stock motor without a fuel computer

Crymson 12-04-06 02:09 PM

whoops, big was supposed to be tiny and vice versa -- oh well.

MUSSSSSNNNNNNNTTTT TTTTTOOOOOUUUCCCHHHH anything without a fuel computer!!!!

Monsterbox 12-04-06 03:40 PM

anything higher than 350 is pushing it...doesnt matter if the fuel mixture is good, getting air in and fuel into the engine is not an issue but getting the air OUT on stock ports gives some stress over 14-15lbs or around 350hp level if u wanna long lasting reman

This question comes up so much it's we-todd-did. You want to know how much power you can make? You forgot to ask for how long. Sure, you can make 600 hp on your little rotary but how long will it last? If you're at the drag strip every weekend, maybe a couple months if you're lucky.

Think of it this way: engine life, assuming everything else constant, depends on power level and the duration that power level is maintained.

Life = HP x Duration (units of horsepower-time)

I'm oversimplifying things A LOT, but you get the idea. Life for a given motor type (i.e. 13b-rew, ls1) is fixed (and will have some variation depending on the level of preparation/quality of parts/operating environment, etc... this is where a statistical figure would be VERY nice for people asking about engine life on an FD). Then, if you drive around WOT all the time, duration will decrease proportionally (at least in this example... the real relation between life, power, and duration my have another functional form; it may be like the square of hp, etc.)

Remember that hp is constantly changing as the car is driven. It's not practical to actually measure the engine hp level as you're driving, but my understanding is that engine engineers do just that to judge what a motor's operating life is.

when he says stock motor i really think he means a motor w SSTOCK porting...not fuel..and fuel management ect....u can make that kind of power on a safe tune
