Map sensor issue...

So I popped 2 map sensors in 2 days. This was confirmed by my power commander reading "----" under boost/vac when the car is on ignition and plus car wont start. When the map sensor is removed I get a boost reading of 1.12ish and the turbo control solenoids are continuously clicking. Anywho, my hood is vented, no wheel well covers either. I have the harness in the driver well secured to the frame and does not touch the tires at all. My wideband o2 sensor is also showing errors as if its burned out and time for a new one which I'm getting today. Would that cause issues to my map sensor? I'm aware that the map sensor has power, ground, and voltage wire and I'm sure theres an open or short within the 3 wires- most likely power or ground. I guess I need to chase wires and look for a break? And, would water damage my map sensor? I got caught in pensacola rains and popped first map sensor. Had an extra one brought to me from atl and then journeyed back to atlanta but popped again when turning onto i65. Yes, it was raining. Luckily one of my friends had aaa and we had her towed 100mi to Montgomery which is closer to home at least. I ordered a gm3bar map sensor this time as it would be new vs a 23-25yr old used stock map sensor. Should be coming in tomorrow. Any tips or anyone experienced this? I also got tuned back in july and it happened on my way back home from the tuner and luckily another buddy had a map sensor to lend me which lasted from mid july until sat night. I'm currently at my parents house in columbus ga waiting for the part so I can get back to Montgomery to troubleshoot, install and hopefully nomore gremlins on my way back to atl.

help!!!

thanks,

Marlon from atl

The MAP sensor is weather sealed and water shouldn't be an issue with the sensor itself. Now, if you have shorts in the engine harness that could easily damage that sensor if the wires are shorting out inside the harness.

There's no easy fix for this, you're going to have to track down some wiring problems. Sounds like there may be some sketchy wiring.

Take your left front wheel off and look for harness damage.

Thank you for the tips! I traced the wires as best as I could and found 2 suspect spots and weather sealed them tight. As for harness in the wheel well, i have it tight to the fender wall as I have had an issue at dgrr 2014 lol.
