manual boost controller
can anyone that has done the manual boost controller for stock turbos tell me how the turbos would react if you close the bleedvalue, will it give your higher or lower boost?
thanks |
closing the valve will give you higher boost.

how would you lower the boost?
right now my rx7 is boosting a unbelivible 1.5 bar but its on stock turbos, i have a straight pipe exaust cuz the car came like that. im currently making restrictor plates i will put on each end of the midpipe hopefully droping the boost down a bit. i suspect the waste gate is stuck closed or some thing, it might be cuz of the actuator though or a pill the previous owner put in to the line. by the way, can anyone tell me where the pills are located? is it more near the turbo nipple of the actuator/wastegate nipple? |
I don't think the stock turbos are capable of boosting at 1.5 bar. That's like 21-22 psi. The pill is in the line that goes from your turbo nipple to your wastegate. You can completely pull off the stock line and replace it with a straight through line (no pill). The boost should be fairly low (about 10 psi) until you hit around 5500 rpms. At this point you will most likely see the boost creep up to 15 psi or more. If this happens then the car is behaving completely normal. Installing a restrictor plate about 2 inches in diameter should be able to keep the boost down to 12 psi or less. There is no sense in making 2 plates, one should do the trick. If you have a boost valve already installed in the wastegate line then I would assume your pill has already been removed.
