Magnaflow Metallic Cat question

I was looking at getting one of the Magnaflow 599xx series metallic cats. I saw the 59929 (which flows around 600 cfm) or the 59959 (which flows around 570 cfm) at the test conditions. I found the test results at http://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=491141 . Magnaflow now says that the cats are 300 cell per sq in, so they should flow even better.

Would the extra 30 cfm shown be worth the extra money? Also, does anyone running either of these two specific cats have any feedback? Thanks.

I don't have any feedback on that one, but I have a 300 cell Random Tech metal cat welded into a mid pipe. I've had excellent results with it. Flows very similarly to a straight pipe but no exhaust stink and eliminates the boost creep and spike that I used to get in colder weather.

I'm actually going to sell it soon if you are interested.

It really cuts down the smell. Of course it wont pass smog.

Metal Cat

I have had problems with metal cats, the two I have owned both self destructed.
Both cores inside the housings became loose due (per the engineers) overheating than cooling. I was was told this was due to overly rich a/f ratios and high EGT's. I was recommended to stick with the ceramics due to their abilty to deal with Rx7's exhaust temps and rich mixtures. Ironicly none of the ceramic cat's I have owned had a problem.
