Made a video, removing uim

Well when i wanted to take mine off 2 weeks ago, i had to read on how to do it. i am the type of person who understands it by looking at how its done... I couldn't find a video or pictures of exactly what/how to do it. So i figured to make my own to try and help anyone who wants to do it.

First video so dont bash to hard

damn, great job!

Cool. No need to remove the TB from the UIM, I always remove them as one unit.

i had another video i had made at the same time, if you plan to change your spark plug wires theres the 1 behind the oil filler neck. i just wanted people to know how to remove it

It may not be available yet but give it some time

Thanks for the newbie videos ( I am a newbie ). I just removed my UIM on my own so that part I figured out. I am waiting for my new plug wires so the second video is going to be useful!

Awesome video man....

I always have a folded towel at hand when lifting the UIM off its studs, so I can slide it in over studs to prevent them from scratching the mating surface of the UIM. On my car the IAC and IAT connectors plus the hoses next to the firewall are so tight that the UIM cannot be lifted up very far, and I cannot remove the IAC connector with the UIM on the studs (as shown in the video). The connector locks are just too tight. Also the TPS connector is a PITA since its wire harness is very tight and runs right over the connector locking tab, making it very difficult to disconnect it. In fact, in general I find unlocking the connector locking tabs on almost all connectors very hard. A lot of them jam, because the tab bends down without lifting the lock end. It's particularly difficult on the IAC and IAT connectors (my AWS is gone, thank the Maker).

Are you doing a video that goes all the way to removal of the injectors?

I really like this thread, maybe this is what we all will be doing ten years from now. Maybe we're all going to get rid of our key boards and just make a recording of our questions and all our write ups.

Thanks! Helped me for my first time :P

good stuff for the beginners.

Couple comments...you should know this all by now but maybe people searching in the future don't, but like mentioned above, it is much easier to remove the UIM with the TB still attached.

Also I literally laughed out loud when that one TB nut dropped and you could hear it clinking down into the abyss...it has happened to any of us who work on our cars and is always 'wanna hit yourself' moment. Telescoping magnet is a MUST!

after watching this I am also so happy to have eliminated 90% of all the CRAP that is in the way of doing this when you're bone stock with coolant lines and all the emissions stuff. Once you go single...it is easier to pull the UIM than having to crawl down underneath and change the oil...at least I think so.

anyways cheers

i never realized that people wanted video how-to's on fd maintenance actions. i am in the process of tearing down my entire car, i will make videos on all that i do. little "problem" i guess is that my car is jdm spec and is full non-seq so it will be a little different for most but the gist of the task will clear
