M2 rollbar - hello??
Their phone number on the web site is disconnected and I'm getting no response from their sales email address.
I'm interested in the M2 rollbar. Can that be purchased anywhere else, or must I go through M2? Does anybody else offer a rollbar that doesn't mount in the jack storage locations? |
I think its either autopower or kirk's that mount in the rear speaker holes (no speaker there if you have a touring model).
|
I'm not sure if the M2 roll bar can be purchased anywhere else (or even at all, if they went out of buisness).
You should check out www.kirkracing.com . They have an awesome roll bar, which actually might be better than M2's. You have an option if you want it to mount in the storage bins or not. AND its around the price of $350. Thats basically a steal compared to the $1000-$1500 price of the M2. Actually, I think M2 went out of buisness, atleast thats what i've read around here. Not sure though. I'll post some pics of the Kirk bars in some cars. |
Heres what you would see of the kirk bar outside the car

Here's where they would mount behind the seat.

is the kirk bar funtional in a rollover?
|
I'm pretty sure it is, but just to be sure, give Kirk racing a call. They should know. :D

My primary reservations with the Kirk bar are that it is mild steel, right? (heavy) And it looks like it might really hinder passenger seat adjustment.
Does it impact driver side seat adjustment? How was the install? Bolt in? How many pieces? Yours looks customized with a harness bar and diagonals - where did you get it and was it a standard configuration? |
seat adjustment would be my main concern, but like Rotorhead mentioned I think they have an option that mounts in the bins or at least where the bins would normally be.
|
never mind

I should tell you, that the pics above are not mine, but someone on the forum with the bar. The link to his thread is right here.
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...highlight=kirk Anyways, about your questions. It does impact driver and passenger seating, but the driver side change is very minimal, and the passenger side wont be able to move back on the last 3 clicks of the seating rail. Nothing to bad. The roll bar itself is a bolt in, however i think you can order it in a weld in. The bar in the picture is not customized, i believe that is the standard bar that you would recieve. The price is $350, or around there. Honestly, even if the Kirk bar does affect seating a little bit, and the M2 doesn't, i'd still get the kirk bar, mainly because of its price compared to the M2 bar. Overall, the kirk bar seems to be a great bar. Just my 2 cents. :) heres a pic of the kirk bar in peices. https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...postid=2730568 |
Update - I got a response from M2, so they are apparently still in business.
They said I could order parts through "Mostly Auto", whatever that is - I couldn't find a website or contact. He must mean Mostly Mazda? The Kirk bar is tempting, but the M2 bar I've seen definitely has some more contouring ("sexier") and is less obtrusive in the rearview mirror... but worth $700 more???? |
