m2 polished intake pipes
anybody have these? opinions? trying to make my engine bay look less plastic.

intake pipes
I had the M2 and now I have the set Jason sells at the 7 store. They are for looks mainly and I like them alot the stock pipes look pretty bad. as for hp gains I doubt it. The great thing is that jasons are just as good, cheaper and something M2 wouldn't know about he has them in stock. Good luck trying to get them in any reasonable time frame from M2

I have a extra unused M2 short polished intake pipe if you're interested. I think I have some of the black silicone hoses also.

I don't think they are worth any more than 175.00. I can't believe I spent 250+ on the damn things... But I like them. I'd go cheaper if I could do it again. |
The idea is that you replace your intake hoses with a stainless steel one since your rubber ones are prone to break after heat cycling. However, it doesn't justify spending $285 on it. Thta and plus the lower one is a pain in the arse to install

i have the SS sold by rx7store.net they cost less and look as good as the m2

Why is plastic so bad? Which one do you think retains more heat.

What would be best is probably some of those molded plastic type pipes that come with greddy intercooler kits. Also: Has anyone actually split the stockers? they're not even pressurized., so i think the "prone to splitting" thing is overblown. I wouldn't want plastic or rubber AFTER the turbos, but here i don't think it matters. There might be some value in getting rid of the flex ribbing, to improve the flow a bit though. |
mine stock pipe cracked....i have the m2 set now.
Im happy. j |
just wanted to dress up the engine bay, realize the polished one would absorb more heat. but i'm not out to gain every ounce of power so it's ok for me. but yea, almost 3 bills for some pipes!!! argg....

I split the lower intercooler hose pipe not too long ago - the dealership wanted $240 for ONE pipe. I found a great deal on the forum for both pipes. I'm using my CAD programs to draw them out to see if I can get them fabricated for cheap at my friend's machine shop.

twinturboteddy, I thought you of all people knew whats wrong with plastic, You can't pollish it.

So, these pipes are for use with the stock IC and that's it right?? I wouldn't see why anyone would buy them at all since we all seem to upgrade IC's just as soon as possible. I have a feeling that I'm gonna look like a jackazz for this post, but then again I don't know everything either. What's the deal with these pipes?(stock IC only or only SMIC's?)

Zach, they go between the air box (filters) and turbo's.

Gotcha, thanx for the help Air-Rex. So could I use those to replace the plastic pipes that came with me Apex'i twin intakes??
