M2 ECU + Midpipe...is this possible

I have a M2 stage 3 setup and was wondering if it was posible to throw in a midpipe safely or do I need a PFC.

they say "don't do it!"

Iam not sure but I think they say that cuz its very unstable and they wanna look like a "reliable" tuner. Which is not bad at all. Just that they dont wanna look bad. Also iam sure less people blow engines with a high flow cat on instead of mid pipe. Another reason to the mystery to keep "reliable" as a factor.

I once had a M2 stage 3 and now have a PFC. Just comparing boost stability with a DP and stock cat - I would not try it! Even a Dawes would'nt stabilize decently with the M2.

The PFC is worlds better at controlling the boost.

M2 + Midpipe

I won't tell you to go for it but here is my current setup!
M2: Stage III ECU
RB Dual Tip Catback
SS Downpipe
M2 Air intake
M2 MEd IC
Main Under drive pulley.
Bleader Valve for boost
Needle Valve for Precontrol
Oh yae....and a Pettit Resonated midpipe!

I have had this setup for a year including all out road racing at VIR.

2 things I do to control the midpipe:
1. Keep boost to 11psi
2. Made a Restrictor plate for the exhaust. 3/8" steel plate that I can put in to the muffler where it bolts to the midpipe. This creates back pressure. The size of the hole you make in the plate determines the amount of back pressure. I learned this from a friend who made one and who has used it for years. Also Dave at KDR has made them for customers.

I am running M2 stage 3 w/ Downpipe, Midpipe and catback. Runing non-seq and have not had any problems will be putting an intake on next week. I have yet to see any boost spikes runnin 10 psi on manual boost controller.

m2 says you shouldn't do it, and they are right. my friend ran 12.6@115 with m2 stage 3 and a midpipe though. the key here is boost control, if you can keep the boost under control its probably ok, but you have no safety margin.
