M2 ???

maybe a stupid question.....

So, what happened to M2 ??? I go away for a little while and they're suddenly out of business ?!?!?!?!

What's the best place to shop for equivalent parts now?? I've noticed some very similar airboxes, etc for sale used. Where can they be found new???

You have been gone for 2 years then :)

Myself and rotaryextreme have a copy of the old M2 box.

"A little while"? They've been gone for quite a few years AFAIK...

As far as airboxes, I think Rotary Extreme has an M2 copy. Oh yeah, and RX7store, too. :D

Jason the link to your airbox is down. I think this broken link and several others on your site, may hurt sales on these items. :(

Look for items branded under "ASP", the m2 design is the same for some of these items

i just bought my NEW M2 airbox from them two summers ago. And I spoke with Brian on the phone several times. So, it couldn't have been several years ago.

but anyways, thanks for the info. anyone know why their website is still active???

Yeah, it hasn't been "several years". I dropped by their shop in Concord maybe a year and a half ago and bought one of their last exhausts. AFAIK, their Mostly Mazda/Mostly Auto shop was sold and the new owners took it in another direction. Brian Richards, however, still retained the rights to the "M2" name, rights, and whatever inventory was left over. Heard second-hand that he was working out of his home but I don't know if it's true or not, but I'd guess the latter.

I live in Concord and the shop was sold (talked with the new owner and he turned it into a service station). Sad thing is I never had a chance to swing by M2 as an RX7 owner. I would go there once a year, check out all the FD's, then dream of one day owning one. Now that I own one I cant even have them look at the damn thing. Bah...

As far as buying parts from them, their site is up but their payment links are closed.

I have been reading these forums for some time and was interested in the M2 dual Exhaust. (FD)

Is there no way to get a new exhaust system (or is someone making replicas)

it was not easy to find out what M2 even was (it fells like an secret)

If M2 is such great products, then why are they out of business?

Kento 06-20-07 01:33 PM

I believe that the M2 exhausts were made by an Australian company. Try searching, you might find the thread where it was mentioned.

Whatever the reasons for the shop being sold off, M2 had a reputation for incredibly poor customer service (I saw much of it firsthand). So no matter how good its products were, M2 was hindering just as much as helping the RX7 community.

Take a look at the Racing Beat dual exhaust:

Very similar to the old M2 dual.

Yes, you have to find one second hand.

That's sad...I had an M2 Harness Bar in my old FD...seemed like a good unit, although fitment was a little sketchy

ptrhahn 06-20-07 04:10 PM

Somebody could make alot of money by digging up M2's CF vendor, and having thm crank out more CF intakes.

the aluminum box was better, the CF one didnt have any barbs on the filter tubes, so the filters fall off
