loud vibrating noise when braking hard
I bleed my brakes about 3 weeks ago and used speed bleeders. First time I have bleed the brakes so at least 13 years without a brake fluid change although there never was any problem with the brakes. Everything went well and the brakes seem to stop just fine. When I do very hard braking though, I hear a loud loud vibrating/buzzing noise from the engine bay which stops as soon as I let off the brakes. When I reapply the brakes (no matter how hard or soft), the noise does not come back. The traction control light never comes on and brakes feel fine so I'm not sure what the problem is. When I did suck the fluid out of the brake reservior, it was nearly black and I couldn't see to the bottom of a cup full of fluid. The brake fluid comming out of the capilars were also pretty dark and murkey. I made sure to bleed the brakes and tap the capliars with a hammer and mallet to get out any bubbles and made sure the fluid was clear and without any bubbles so I'm pretty sure there isnt any air in the system. Any idea what it might be?
I mean im pretty sure its the abs system. Did anyone know what might be going on with the ABS system? The brakes don't lock up when I brake hard and the feel is the same as before, perhaps a little bit tighter/firmer. just the loud noise which is odd. |
Sounds like your ABS.
It's supposed to vibrate when you brake hard. -Geoff |

Traction control light?? The car doesn't have traction control. What light are you referring to? |
