Lots of smoke!!

well my cars blowing alot of smoke threw the exuast.i dont know why.it only happens when the car is at a dead stop with low rpm.if u give it even the slightest throttle it stops.the car runs perfect.nothings wrong with the way it runs.its only that smoke thay has me worried.does anyone think they know wat it is.???? thanks

fd94 11-11-09 10:08 PM

fd94 11-11-09 10:37 PM

help!!

blown coolant seal

your engine needs a rebuild.

Do it.

zweetz32 11-12-09 12:16 AM

white smoke = burning coolant. blue smoke = oil. Looks like time for a rebuild. On the other hand, my turbos were blowing coolant like mad for some reason...didn't know how that was happening.

tt7hvn 11-12-09 08:00 AM

you know...my car was blowing white smoke like mad, i mean bad, it always looked like there was a cloud from the sky following me

then i stored it for a year and it went away.....magically no more white smoke

but, +1 for blown coolant seal or turbos

Same thing here it goes away and comes back.is it something really seriouse?expensive?

zweetz32 11-12-09 08:09 AM

check your exhaust for water/coolant and have someone behind you, see if it smells like coolant. guy in front of me on the highway had a blown headgasket and my cover was covered in water. Smells like shit to. Be prepare to spend money, you either gonna need a engine rebuild or new turbos

fd94 11-12-09 08:21 AM

But I mean thr car runs perfect.the air is fine the radio is good.the car is perfect no leaks it doesn't over heat.everytin is perfect.so u thinkl its thaat.how much to fix?

zweetz32 11-12-09 08:24 AM

Do a pressure check on your coolant system. It'll tell you if you got a leak somewhere. If it's the motor, rebuild can cost over 1k. turbo used for a few hundred bucks.

tt7hvn 11-12-09 08:26 AM

well, it's obviously burning coolant....get a coolant system pressure test/er from somewhere before you lay down the dough for a rebuild

sure, the car will run fine, except when you burn all your coolant

have you recently replaced any cooling components? radiator/water pump, anything that would cause the car not to have coolant in it for a while?

djseven 11-12-09 08:37 AM

How many miles have you driven it this way? If it was coolant seal failure and is smoking heavily it would only take about 1-2 hours of run time before the coolant was low and the car was overheating. Could be greyish/blue oil smoke from failed oil control rings which makes sense since it is only doing it in high vacuum situations. Does it do it as soon as you let off throttle? Doesnt smoke under boost? You havent had to add coolant?

fd94 11-12-09 08:58 AM

I haven't had to put coolant.its white smoke.it only happens when I'm at a dead stop at low rpms.ithe car runs like notins wrong.I haven't replaced anytin.I had the carsittin for like 3 months cuhz I had it at the body shop.icould it be thst the motor is cleaning itself or what?

zweetz32 11-12-09 11:08 AM

how long has it been smoking for?

fd94 11-12-09 02:59 PM

for about two weeks.

Mahjik 11-12-09 03:18 PM

Take the oil filler cap off, start the car and let it idle. See if running with the oil cap off makes a difference on whether the car is producing smoke or not.

fd94 11-14-09 10:12 AM

well i checked the coolant and its full.so idoubt its burning it.

ByeByeSti 11-14-09 08:29 PM

same thing was happening to mine, and then if it was running and id take off the coolant cap, it would spray all over. couple more weeks went by and more and more smoke, eventually it just didnt want to start. pulled the plgs and coolant came out. all the coolant seals blew. and your looking at a 2k minimum if you pull the motor yourself and put it back in after its rebuilt

fd94 11-17-09 06:59 PM

But idk I'm mean the car runs perfect.my coolant is good my oil is good my turbo spools up fine.the car hasn't showed sighns of any problems.do u think oil is gettn inside the turbos?

zayrx7 11-17-09 07:33 PM

take the spark plugs out and see if they have any coolant on them

fd94 11-18-09 03:06 PM

let me ask you.if it was the coolant seal wouldnt it be burning coolant meaning that i should have low coolant?

zweetz32 11-18-09 04:16 PM

white smoke = burning coolant....dude pull the plugs. People giving you advice and you ain't doing anything. Maybe your mom is spraying water into your exhaust before you start your car as a joke. Check the damn plugs.

fd94 11-18-09 08:09 PM

ok DUDE ill pull the plugs

tek412 12-09-09 12:53 PM
