lost wire?
 

After taking my UIM off to replace a faulty intake thermosensor, i took a look around at my wiring. Damn! most of the wire cover tape just cracks right off :(. But what really worries me is i found a wire hanging (looks cut) and just hanging under the green plug for the water thermosensor. So i searched for a picture of a wiring harness and found this picture (below) and the same color wire (black with red stripe) wasn't connected to a plug. So where does this wire go? and what should i do with it? I would really like this answered. thanks in advance :)

Fan Thermosensor. Your fans wont operate on high (PFC) without it.

so where do i connect it? will it work w/o PFC? will they run other speeds? i'm now curious...... but thanks jdhuegel1 for letting me know what it is :)

a single prong sensor right near the oil press sending unit i belive.

isn't that under the oil filter? the wire isn't long enough to stretch like that

well if it cut us a butt connecter and take another wire to it (mabey not butt connecter may use crimp and seal connecters, correct me if im wrong)

mad_7tist is referring to the water temp sensor FOR THE GAUGE. There are 2.

On the back of the thermostat housing there are 2 plugs. The one on the top is green. That's the water temp sensor for the ECU. The one directly under it (Single prong connector) is the fan thermoswitch. It's a black plug. Check and see if it's still there. It may have broken while you were pulling the harness and could still be there. The plug wire usually breaks VERY close to the plastic, making it hard to solder back on.. You can shave the plastic down with a dremel and solder it.

As for it's function: It is wired DIRECTLY to the fan relay (forget which one) but without a hot signal from this sensor, the fans will not operate on high.. regardless of ECU (my bad on initial report).

I'm sure you could fabricate a connector and be good to go, but as far as I see it, its a very important part of a cool running FD.
