Lost acceleration at 190f

Hey guys, I'm sure someone else has had these same problems. Was wondering if I could get some assistance so I dont spend the WHOLE day trying to find the culprit.

Symptoms: after warm up to 150f the car runs fine. my boost is running 6s (restriction pill so its norm). once i hit a little over 180f my car will not boost, I cannot get below 10 on the vacuum side(ie it wont boost). I tried down shifting from 5th to 4rth to get some power, I got a little and I DID hear a hissing noise coming from the passenger side area when it slighty boosted 1or 2, I assumed it was the turbos. However in doing some searching it might be the couplers near the Y pipe.
This first happened to me yesterday, I let the car sit overnight, it ran fine this morn until it hit that same temp range.
If anyone has any places to point me to, I would love you forever.

The wastegate solenoid could be getting stuck open once it heats up. Take it out and do a voltage test on it.

Other than that, theres always http://www.autosportracetech.com/RX-...leshooting.htm

So do you love me now?

Close to it!

On the link about the wastegate solenoid I read this: With only the Primary Turbocharger in operation, the Wastegate is NOT actively controlled by the ECU. Once boost pressure reaches about 10 psi, the Wastegate starts to open to bypass some of the exhaust around the Turbocharger, thus slowing down the Turbocharger.
So since I am restricted to 7psi right now, could this still be a culprit?

I found on the same link that Primary turbo inlet failure causes the same symptoms I am getting, I am checking further into that right now.

also, what am i looking for when voltage testing the wastegate solenoid? A particular number range?

Oo, damn I forgot about the 7 psi thing. I guess it could be the turbo inlet. I've never had primary issues, so I'm not real familiar with dealing with them. My initial thought was just that as solenoids get old, they don't respond when they're hot.

Hmm, I think I'm out of ideas.

Look at the LONG post way at the bottom of this thread. https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...d+voltage+test

Do that, and then stick the solenoid in the oven, heat it up, and try it when it's hot.

fixed! :D turns out it was simply that primary turbo intake hose. it was apparent when i pulled those hoses out above it, the thing had collapsed on itself. i pushed it out and took it for a test drive, everything is fine.

thanks for the link 911.

Nice, congrats on the fix.

So... how about dinner?

Meiogirl 04-18-04 06:13 PM
