Loosing coolant, no leaks, no smoke. What then?
I'm loosing coolant levels in my overflow tank. It's taken about 2 months but my levels have gone from nearly full to almost totally empty. There are no visible leaks in or under the car. I'm not getting any smoke (white at least) from the exhaust so... where could it be going and what precautionary measures should I take?
Thanks, Matt |
If it's taking two months for your overflow to lower, you should be cool. That's totally normal. Go to an autoparts store and pick up pressure tester pump. Give it a good number of pumps, at least up to 15-18 lbs. and check to see where you might have a leak.

ah, alright. cool thanks. I'll do that and see if I can come up with any leaks. I suppose the RX just likes to eat fluids. Oil... Coolent... Gas...!

It does not seem that bad, you probably have a small crack in a hose, that will worsen over time-be careful as this could hapen abruptly

Check your turbo coolant hoses. They will leak and you won't ever see it.
|
ah, good suggestions. I will look there. Thanks

While you're there, and after you've pumped a good 18 lbs. of pressure into your colling system, replace even suspect misc hoses and replace those old skool clamps. :D
