Loose Side Mirror FIX (pix)

Both of our side mirrors were a little loose. Searched the forum and found instructions but no pix. so,

Grasp the top part of the mirror and rotate, it will pivot (either way) just like the ones do for car washes etc.

One way pivot will expose a screw on one side, pivot the other way and you have access to the other screw.

Tighten both down and the wiggle/rattle/worry are gone.

I had that problem when I first bought my FD. The screw heads were a bit worse off than yours and refused to tighten anymore. I replaced them with new ones and I also used a nylon washer.

Yours dont look that bad but I would have replaced them anyways.

ive got an annoying RATTLE inside mine, anyone know what thats about? only on the driver's side..and it works fine...sounds like a BB or something trapped behind the mirror bouncing around

Those screws look kinda nasty. you should replace them. they are expensive for screws from the dealer but that's better then have them mushroom out if you ever have to loosen them.

My rattle was from the glass. you can get a heat gun to remove the glass then reglue it back on (don't drop it).

My drivers side mirror is a bit loose and I've been wondering how to go about fixing it. I just want to confirm that the side mirrors on a '94 FD Touring really do twist. I just have this bad feeling about ripping my mirrors off.

All series FD mirrors "twist" :icon_tup: It's the only way to get them on and off the door.

I stole some plutonium from some Iranians. Installed it into my DeLorean. Gunned it up to 88mph in a parking lot while they were shooting at me! Went back to 2008 and he says "you're welcome".

a painter took mirrors off and i can't get them back on. the holes won't line up what am I doing wrong?

FD3S2005 11-16-13 12:38 AM

swap out those screws.. mine looked like that and started stripping when i took them out.. i think my mirror itself is kinda loose or i have just a slight vibration or something.. both screws are tight and i even added a washer that someone suggested to me. if i grab the top and bottom of the whole side mirror the mirror wont shake.
