Loose side mirror?

At around 55mph my driver's side mirror starts shaking, and can be moved around by hand when im stopped. Its not really extremely loose, just enough to bother me. my passenger side mirror feels tight, the way the driver's side should.

Does/Did anyone have this problem? I really don't want to rip into my door just to tighten a screw. :(

i have the exact same problem on my passenger side ... i can move it up enough to see that there (i'm guessing here) are 2 screws holding the thing down ... the rear screw on mine is totally gone. Which is why i can lift the mirror so much.

I hope someone can tell us how to fix this ... i tried taking my door panel off ... but something keeps me from getting it completely off. ARRGHH!! Even still ... it doesn't look like i can get to it anyways.

Need Help

The mirrors on the FD fold in (I didn't believe it till I tried it). When they are folded in it will expose 2 Phillips head screws which just need to be tightened down once in a while.

My mirror assembly is tight. But the glass vibrates. Anyone with this problem?

If the mirror is loose, you can use a heat gun to heat up the adhesive holding the mirror. Once the mirror is removed, you can put some more adhesive so the mirror won't move no more. Adhesive is available at auto supply stores.

The mirror ASSEMBLY can be tightened like JR said.

Dont strip the screws or you will be pulling the door apart. I have this on my passenger side, but the screw was stripped by the last owner. I unscrewed it a little and put 2 half washers under the philips head screw and tightened it... Its all good now....

I think I have had the same probs. Mine sounded when driving.
I just loosen the mirror by the 2 screws visible when folded in, then taking up the mirror and tighten the screws under the mirror that holds the plastic shal.

I fixed mine 2 nights ago ... thanks for the picture. It helped a lot. I found a screw that fit perfect and now it's all good.

Thanks again
Van
