Looking for source of window switch

The driver's door window switch on my 1993 model has broken (with the window down of course). The passengers window switch is fine, but the left drive'rs side has no "spring" to it and doesn't work the window.
I guess they come in pairs. Apart from Mazda anyone know a good source for this kind of part?
Thanks.

Malloy Mazda best source, ask for Ray

Supernaut Sep 28, 2010 05:48 PM

I would look for it used. Even from Ray its going to cost alot.

Montego Sep 28, 2010 06:04 PM

Don't get it used. Our window switches are prone to break.

Just call Ray at malloy mazda. I bought one a couple of years ago from him, I forget the price but it wasn't very much. Just a couple of hundred bucks IIRC.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Supernaut Sep 28, 2010 07:33 PM

I've never seen a broken window switch ever. Side view mirror switch, yea.

DaleClark Sep 28, 2010 07:38 PM

Really? I've seen plenty of broken switches. Usually they're physically broken, the plastic is all busted up.

Also, get the '94 switch with the one-touch down for the driver's side. It's a plug-in upgrade and it's actually cheaper than the '93 switch.

I don't think the price is THAT bad, like $150 or something.

Just be careful when installing it, don't bust up the plastic trim on the door handle in the process.

Oh, for the passenger side power window switch, hit the junkyard. '90s era Mazda 626's use window switches in the back that are damn near identical.

Dale,
You have me confused. The driver and passenger swtiches look like an identical pair and look as though they come together?

duder Sep 29, 2010 03:16 AM

My son's car had a bad passanger side switch. We pulled one from I think it was an old 323. Then I move each wire one by one from the bad switch to the used one. It works fine now for a year. I think it was $1.00 for the switch. I think the driverside is the same switch.

Dale was taking about the switch on the passenger door.

He means the switch that is located on the passenger side of the car.

April 2001 >> Jun 2008 ;)

No seriously yeah they break. As Dale said its a physical break not an electrical one. Though you can easily seperate them, Mazda sells them as one and we get stuck buying the whole assembly.

armytim2002 Sep 29, 2010 01:46 PM

Yeah the switch for the passenger window broke (plastic wise) so it wont flip the switch on the inside. I have to reach over and put it up and down and thats annoying when your driving and it starts to rain lol

reverus Sep 29, 2010 01:47 PM

now im confused, the drivers side switch is large rectangular, has two switches, and the Lock button, the passanger side is just a little oval switch.

the electronics on the driverside are a one piece circuit board with three selectors on it.. are we all talking about the same thing here?

armytim2002 Sep 29, 2010 01:50 PM

Yeah. If you take the driver side switch apart youll see that when you put the window up or down that there is a plastic piece that engages it. If that breaks then the switch will just sit there and if you pull up or push down it wont engage anything. Atleast thats how it is for mine

Double_J Sep 29, 2010 03:57 PM

My passenger can lower theirs but I have to raise it on the driver side. The plastic looks fine, so you suggest going to the bone yard and looking for a 323??

IanR Oct 15, 2010 09:16 AM

I've been traveling for a couple of weeks. I came back and drove round to my local Mazda dealer and enquired the price/availability of the drivers side unit.
$238.02 !!
Amazing how expensive plastic is these days;)
Guess I will give Ray Crowe a call.
Oh availability is one business day.

I have a 93 DS window switch that's 2 years old 110 shipped.

korea_senpai Oct 15, 2010 09:56 AM

Mine broke and I bought a 94 switch at mazdatrix

IanR Oct 15, 2010 01:49 PM

OK I checked current prices with Mazdatrix and they are now around $200.
I called Ray at Malloy Mazda and bought a new '94 switch assembly for $160. Decided to go with the new 1994 part because it's a better part than the 93, but thanks very much for that offer. It's appreciated.
