LOOKING for RECARO rz seat sliders

anyone have 2 pairs or know where to get them? thanks

DaiOni 05-23-06 02:03 AM

I can price/source a brand new OEM set(s) if you like.

If you don't light your cigars with greenbacks... don't bother asking, lol.

FD4LIFE908 05-23-06 02:20 AM

yes if you can. thanks

DaiOni 05-23-06 02:23 AM

won't be going until saturday or sunday - I'll post up after that.

which version do you have? (do you know?)

FD4LIFE908 05-23-06 02:28 AM

i dont know what you mean version. i want the seat sliders for the rz seats. the ones that slide forward/backward and tilt.

DaiOni 05-23-06 02:49 AM

the seats have been around since 95 (in FDs), and there is also an FC version. They aren't all exactly the same.

are the rails universal? I don't know - but if we can clarify what year FD (or FC) they came from - then that won't be an issue.

FD4LIFE908 05-23-06 02:52 AM

there from a fd and i think the 99. no america FD had them.. the rails fit right in with no moding..

artowar 05-23-06 03:49 AM

Also interested in pricing on FD rails for RZ or Spirit R seats.

You're the same guy pissing on Aristo's 'For Sale' thread with an RZ seat for sale, telling him the seat is worth only $200. You think these sliders are going to be cheaper than that?

sorry i didnt know you cared so much! anyway, i was being serious. my offer is 200$ because there really not worth any more. not trying to hurt anyones feelings or anything.. i can buy the same damn seat from recaro for like 600 but it wont have the seat belt thing on the side. now you tell me why that recaro seat is worth more then 200$. its used and torn. that guy has been trying to sell that seat forever! why is that?

i still want the sliders if anyone can help....

dradon03 05-23-06 01:38 PM

^

Then buy the Recaro for 600$ since you know all. Maybe it comes with the seat belt "thing" because people don't usually run harnesses out of the factory ;)

Which recaro seats that are "the same damn thing" go for $200 bux?!?!

Please post it!

Englishbull 05-23-06 05:19 PM

Rich,

What size Fikse wheels do you have on your FD? I was thinking about getting a set in 18" and was worried that the ride would suffer.

Thanks,
Kevin

DaiOni 05-23-06 08:56 PM

lol.

I'll quote myself...

I did a pricing session at mazda at the weekend and got a current quote on some of the seat parts.

I say 'some' of the parts - as they've annoyingly split the seats into individual parts (with the older versions, you could buy them as a complete set) - in other words, if you want a seat, you have to buy all the individual pieces and put it all together. There are 40 or so parts.

I couldn't be bothered pricing it all out, so I just priced the 4 main sections of the actual seat - shell, main cover, upper pad, butt bad...

These came to a total (inc tax) of 391,545yen. @today's rate, that's US$3,496.

Once you bought the other 35 or so parts, you can guarantee it would be well over US$4k before shipping, etc.

no recaro seats sell for 200$. i was saying there not worth 200$ cause i can get new recaro seats just like those for about 600$.. i forget what the seats are called but they look just like the RZ seats but with out the seatbelt strap on the side.

And they are made of kevlar (*not* fiberglass) and bolt right in, with no fitment issues? And I suppose the seat rails bolt right to the seats too? Dude, not to be harsh, but you are out of touch with reality on this one.

Hi Kevin,

17x8.5 and 17x10. I *may* be selling them soon, PM me if interested.

DaiOni 05-23-06 09:55 PM

the seat found in FDs is actually specific - but it is, iirc, based on the recaro sp-a. The rrp from recaro is well over US$2000 - so $600 is quite a discount.

they just look like the RZ seats but are they the REAL DEAL RZ seats....thats like me saying i bought 400 dollar mazdespeed seats off ebay...of course there not genuine. You pay what you get for and authenticity in this case....if i had the money i would get genuine Mazda OEM RZ seats if i had it :squint:

KeloidJonesJr. 05-23-06 10:04 PM

The reclining thingys? Bracket?

FD4LIFE908 05-23-06 11:49 PM

heres a link for the seats, pole position. there pretty damn close to the RZ seats. the RZ rails would have to be modified to the seats tho which isnt a big deal. im not sure if there made in carbon fiber but that doesnt matter to me because i make my own CF parts..

http://www.speedwaremotorsports.com/seat/pole04.asp

7racer 05-23-06 11:57 PM

that seat is $650 not $200

and are you saying you can make a dry carbon fiber bucket?

DaiOni 05-24-06 12:00 AM

the RZ seat is carbon/kevlar - you can pick it up with your little finger.

big, big difference.

try looking at this page.... http://www.speedwaremotorsports.com/...rofi_spa04.asp

FD4LIFE908 05-24-06 12:00 AM

i never said 200 for a new seat. i can make it in carbon fiber, not dry but i will vacuum bag it which will make it stronger.. dry is no stronger then a vacuum bagged part.

FD4LIFE908 05-24-06 12:04 AM

carbon fiber is no lighter then fiberglass, of course carbon fiber is much stronger.

I have 18 's in FM-10's and let me tell you the ride is stiff as ****, even with the stock setup.

Also I have found my wheels to be very soft and thin. So, they might not crack but have already had a bent lip fixed since the begining of the summer.

Here's another laughable thread.....

https://www.rx7club.com/lounge-192/no-love-fellow-fd-owners-516772/

DaiOni 05-24-06 12:41 AM

the pole position is about 1.5x the weight of the spa.

they aren't the same material (trim or shell), they aren't dimensionally the same, and they certainly can't be considered similar in terms of 'bargaining'

good find, Joe.

FdeezLyfe, is that your FD? I kinda like it actually :buttslay:

Englishbull 05-24-06 09:19 AM

I own a pair of these seats and let me tell you they are by FAR the best seat you can possibly buy for an FD. Most people fail to realize that these seats are not universal like all the other race seats out there. Meaning that left and right can not be switched. That's why there is so much room. If you were able to take a close look at one of these seats you would understand why they are worth their weight in gold.

Mazda had Recaro design these specifically for our cars. The RZ Carbon/Kevlar seats are so precisely made that it will allow you the most comfort and room and weigh next to nothing doing so. My two seats with the brackets weigh less than your one stocker with out the brackets. I have so much room I can actually even fit back seats and a roll bar!

I even thought about selling mine seperately from the car. As the majority or people would not understand what these seats are all about. The only downside is the price but then again most people who bought an FD did not do so because they wanted to save money. They did so because they wanted something special and rare. Which is what these seats are. And with every year that rolls on they get even harder to come by.

Dradon03,

thanks for the reply. I figured that much, just was not sure how much worse the ride would suffer.

No carbon cloth is not lighter. but the CF seats are thiner and thus lighter and still stronger

It all depends on what weight of cloth you use. Structurally speaking they say that CF has 20 times the strength of metal. With 200 percent the weight reduction, if I remember that correctly. And that all depends on the way its fabricated. You aren't going to get any better seats with what I hear about the Recaros. Made specifically for our cars is a big selling point to me.:bigthumb:

DaiOni 05-27-06 01:08 AM

fwiw, I got the quote on the rails for these seats.

specifically, I got a quote for the spirit-r rail, because it's the one with the fancy tilt adjustment (it looks like the RZ rail might not have this).

total rail (29 parts) cost, a whopping: 104,720yen (and you'd need to add the 5% sales tax).

In other words, you're looking at about US$1k - just for the parts.

might be a bit cheaper for the RZ version, because the tilt section is the most expensive: 57,500yen (!!!!!!)

I have the tilt adjustment on my RZ seat. :)

DaiOni 05-27-06 02:19 AM

and youre sure it's an original rail? maybe it has different degrees of tilt? maybe... I'm just wrong... lol

the parts guy asked me to specify whether it was for an RZ or a spirit-r, and the quote has (R) written after the tilt part....

but maybe I've just added 1+1 and made 3 :p

yep, it's the original rail. The RZ seats had the tilt feature as well.

laujesse 05-27-06 09:44 AM

Both my 98 black RZ, and 03 Spirit R sets have the same rails.

FD4LIFE908: They are carbon kevlar not fiber. jackass

laujesse 05-27-06 10:24 AM

ROFL!!!!!!!!!!

I just read some of this guys other threads and I think just swallowed my tounge...

I didnt even know about the rest when I went after him last time.

I did not know you could be owned over 6000 times with under 300 posts.

1234rotor 05-27-06 10:48 AM

LOL at this post.

You cannot beat RZ/R carbon seats. They are definately the drooling factory for every FD owner out there.

A3ON7 05-27-06 01:31 PM

holyshit!! this user FD4LIFE908 is getting owned big time on the other thread. his remarks are a laughing stock. maybe he can try to be a comedian.

rynberg 05-27-06 02:13 PM

Thread is closed. Daioni has posted the prices and we now know the sliders are the same.
