an OEM carpet is about 900$
a used one is about 450$
you can get a cheap one here

or you can get them molded and new from ACC for $250 lol. And if you order in september you get 20% off with some code thats on the first page. The carpet is nice too. Bought some for my car and also had a set for my brothers truck. Enjoy.

ACC carpets are cheap, but if you want the oem fitmen stick to oem. i bought the ACC carpet and after the install im not very happy with the fitment, you will have to cut all the holes and trim it to fit. I will be ordering a brand new carpet after i finish my single conversion.

TinMan09 09-15-11 04:32 PM

Shit i'm very happy. $900 for oem or $250 for aftermarket and have to do a little work trimming and cutting holes? Its a no brainer for me. But to each their own i guess. I'd buy ACC again before i went oem unless i came across some money bags.

a buddy of mine came by in his rx7. he has the acc carpet in his car. IMO it looks like crap but i guess im just a very picky person. I was going to buy the acc carpet but when i seen his carpet it changed my mind in 2.5 seconds. I bought a used oem carpet from a buddy of mine. It wasnt in the best condition. But after a full blown cleaning i trimed up the fibers that were sticking up with a hair cutting machine and it looks BRAND NEWWW

I had a custom ones made with new oem style floormats with the "Rx7" stiched into them. I'll get pics later

potatochobit 09-15-11 04:45 PM

the black auto interior carpet I linked to is $128.50
if you are going to be a cheap bastard I don't see why you would want to pay double
is there any special about the Accmats that make it worth the extra money?
im thinking about doing it myself, but I have the horrible tan interior and need a new seat first

im with you 100% on this, i wanted to save money and i bought the ACC carpet, im very picky with my car, the carpet looks ok but will never fit or look like the oem carpet. in my case i had my seats redone in black since they were tan, and i bought all the seats plastic covers new from dealer in black, now i just need to get a new oem carpet.

Resurrecting this old thread...

I too purchased the ACC carpet a few years ago. I looked at it and decided that the old original carpet was better so I sent back the ACC stuff.

Has anyone tried the carpet from Stock Interiors? It at least appears to be molded whereas the ACC stuff was not:

Dang, that looks pretty nice! Price isn't too bad either - $599 for the main front carpet and the back hatch carpet.

Anyone know much about this vendor?

Dale

That looks great, did you DIY the installation? Typically aftermarket carpets require a bit of trimming & cutting slits & holes to install - just curious how well-fitted this vendor's product comes out of the box. Also, do you know what company actually manufactures the carpet? So far from what I've been able to find researching the online retailers, they all source the carpets they sell from ACC. I've also heard lots of mixed reviews regarding ACC's carpets -- some folks had great luck with them and got a quality product, others not so much (i.e., crappy fit, shoddy construction, damaged carpet delivered, etc), so I'd suspect their quality control is random.

I used this vendor for my FD's carpet, but I didn't order the stock style like pictured above. Mine is more of a fluffy darker tan color like what he sells for the NSX, but cut for the FD.

I don't have anything to compare it to as far as the other aftermarket carpets on the market, but the fit was pretty decent and mostly just required cutting holes for all the bolts and such. I remember having to do very very little trimming on the carpet itself outside of that.

It does come with the rubber backing and does have some molding, though its not necessarily on the level of accuracy that the OEM carpet has. You will still need the OEM foam backing or to buildup something of your own beneath it (jute, or bulk foam or whatever)

The carpet is still manufactured by ACC Mats (at least at the time I ordered a couple of years ago) like all the rest, but according to the vendor he has his own pattern/specs that they cut it to for him, and its not the same as the one they use if you order from ACC Mats directly. If you contact him, you should have most all of the material/color choices that ACC has available.

Just my experience. The guy was helpful and provided a lot of FD installation photos/steps should you need them, and was very responsive over email. I can't speak to the claim that his pattern is different than the standard ACC pattern since I didn't compare them, I can just say that mine fit in easily enough.

Personally I would stay away from any non OEM carpet. Even though they claim it is molded it doesn't fit the bill. I think Rob Dahm also has a video showing his negative experience with a aftermarket "OEM" replacement. Like me he ended up tearing it all out and starting over. Not saying it can't be done but if you have the means I would look for a used OEM one.

OEM isn't a choice for everyone, especially if your carpet is getting ratty or you want something besides black. I might be in the minority, but I wanted to keep the tan and have something that looked nicer than the original carpet did after 27 years of feet. Maybe the RHD carpets can be made to fit...but I'm going to guess LHD carpets are getting fairly scarce.

Everyone has their own standards of what a "good" fit and finish is. While not perfect, I'm very happy with the carpet I got above and the experience I had working with the vendor.

I also used this vendor for my red carpet and agree with you here. I didn't notice any bulging parts of the carpet during installation, the fit is pretty good (of course as with any aftermarket carpet, requires lots of trimming).
