Looking to buy my first car, FD reliability?

I'm looking to buy my first car and I saw a 93 FD Touring with 90k miles. The owner didn't say there was anything wrong with it. My only concerns are that I hear they aren't reliable and are bad in the snow (I live in Chicago.) If I wouldn't get an rx7, I'd get an 89 Supra Turbo. All help is appreciated.

I'm really glad I did not have an FD for my first car. Highly impractical and not the easiest car to drive safely. Did you get an insurance quote yet?

Of course the owner did not offer everything that was wrong. Most FDs for sale need some work. Assume nothing is in proper working condition and inspect from there. FDs need a lot of maintenance, any many owners put no more than the bare minimum (it's not a Honda) and sell it once they find out it needs costly repair.

They are not suitable for daily driving in the snow. Even with snow tires you're stuck if it's deeper than a few inches. Plus again you will be rusting out a really nice car all winter long.

Please read the FAQ for the 3rd gen. There are links to much longer and more elaborate threads about first cars and practicality. I will close this thread because it's sure to attract vultures.
