locked out. damn :(
Hi,
i did something stupid and could kick myself :S. I wanted to drive my car into the garage to work on it but the battery was low, so i took it out for charging ... but locked the doors before and shut down the hood afterwards :S. Since the fd is kinda new for me, i forgot that theres no keyhole to open the doors. it really sucks, i got the key in my hands but cannot get into my car. Is there an easy way without damaging anything to either open the doors or the hood? i found several threads concerning stuck hoodlatches, but those methods won't work for me. i have sleek lights and the stock ac/radiator intercooler. and i dont think i can pry up the hood since the cable is working ... if you have any idea expect calling someone to open my car pls tell me. If you describe how to open the door, please do it via pm. i don't want to see a description of how to get into a locked fd. thanks in advance |
go in by the trunk.
what do you mean by there not being a keyhole in the door? |
There is a keyhole next to the door handle. And one for the hatch.
|
Insert key in to key hole.
Turn. Have a big frothy Weissbier to celebrate. |
Perhaps one of the freakiest posts in a long time.
Man has locked car, man has key to lock in hand. Man can't understand how to open locked door. Am I the only one that is missing something here? |

Just throwing this out there, but perhaps an FD isn't the car for you if you can't find the key hole
|
You have two other keyholes to choose from
What happened to those? |
Stop flaming me please. if u mean the round holes above the door handles here (same with the trunk): http://media.photobucket.com/image/r...rHandles_1.jpg
i dont have any keyhole in there. maybe they were replaced, maybe they are stock - i don't know. could need some help |
Well if you somehow can not use your key on a door or hatch then there is one idea left if you cant break in....
CALL A LOCK SMITH AND SMACK YOURSELF. |
So how do you usually get into your car or open up the trunk?
|
How do your normally enter the vehicle? Electronic unlock?
|
I locked myself out of my FD once at a football field. Called a cop and he slim jimmed it. Had to pull back my weatherstripping or he would have done a number on it.
|
yes, electronic unlock. if the previous owner converted this, it was damn stupid... was one of the first things i recognized when i got the car. i just forgot it :S
i fear to damage anything when i use a slim-jim. |

i fear to damage anything when i use a slim-jim. Worse case is there will be some scratches, minor cosmetic damages but that's a small price to pay for your mistake. A word of advice, get some real keyholes in the future. NEVER rely on electronics as they can fail, not the case here but as you can see it sorta is the case here lol. Good luck. |
Wow, I'd smack the shit out of the asshat that removed those locks and replaced them with electronic ones...I'd NEVER trust electronic locks only!
|
I always thought installers of shaved door locks put an emergency hidden release somewhere.
|
Well, in that case
get under the car with a set of jumper leads and a battery and attach it to the positive lead on the starter. then ground the negative to the frame. should let you unlock it via the electrics. |

Seemed like it was going this direction fast.... hope you figure it out. |
The FD is really simple to slim jim, first get a wedge to insert between the glass and weather striping in the middle of the door. Next insert your slim jim without scratching the glass, feel the connecting rod and push down. DONE!
|
get sharpie.
get rock. write "key" on rock. throw rock through window. Reach in and open door. |
OP.... I am sorry but... LOL
Brodie has the right idea.... if you remove the under tray yo mayjust be able to get a jumper cable up throught the car.. The other option is to jack up the car. remove the drivers side wheel, and take off the fender liner. That should give you direct access to the battery for said trick. |

^doh.... great point. why didn't I think of that. ;)
|
I wouldn't be surprised that the old owner probably installed a failsafe button somewhere on the vehicle. Check your wheel wells and underneath your vehicle. Ya never know!
