Lighting issues
It seems like i've got avariant of what, from searching, appears to be the lighting electrical fault.
I have no dash, tail, or sidelights at all. The fuse in the driver's footwell is fine. Upon clicking the lights ot the sidelight position the TNS relay clicks. The dimmer switch in the cabin has no power at any of the three terminals. There is no power to the ashtray light. HEadlights work fine on main beam, but no ither illumination. So, where next? I'm trying to figure out which way the power goes - is it: lighting switch > fuse box > TNS relay - distributed inside cabin as per: https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...7&d=1181889968 Or does the TNS relay only come in to operation for the exterior lights, not the cabin ones? So does that mean that there's likely to be an open circuit somewhere between the TNS relay and the wire that comes back inot the cabin? or does the fact i don't have any of the lights imply that the fault is in the power that goes to the TNS relay, and even though it is clicking, there's no current on the circuit it's switching? any advice would be greatly appreciated :) Si |
the TNS relay controls all the lights in the car except the headlights, check the wiring to the relay and then test the relay itself for operation. its possible to be the actual dimmer switch to, if that shorts out it can kill all the lights.

Cheers for that :)
OK, i've discovered when i bridge the two terminals on the relay socket, i get sidelights, teh warning buzzer, but no dash lights. I'm a bit confused - surely this means it's not the relay? I'#m thinking it's further up the line somewere, between the switch and the TNS relay? Or am i totally confused?! |
which 2 terminals are you bridging?

The Normally Open and Common ones :)
Although, thinking about it, that gives power to the circuit, but i suppose if there's a dodgy connection between the switch and the relay somewhere, the dash lights may not be getting the signal to turn on. aaagh! i hate electrics! |
had the same problem, mine was a short, the wire was under the headlight running up the driver side window
