After extensive research I have come to the following conclusions

Assumption: Keep stock pop up headlights

- "Better" Bulbs: bulbs that are 60/55W and say they are like 120/135W etc. are a marketing trick (please see http://www.danielsternlighting.com/)

-Stronger bulbs : you may fry your switch, housings & reflectors etc., although some forum members have run this setup with no probelms.

- HID: expensive, often only one beam, and if two beams extensive change in look has to be done etc. etc.

So I have concluded that I will put auxiliary driving lights (only downsides are they can be easily stolen, and they further decrease the air flow into engine). I would like to know if anyone has any opinions on the following two, that after extensive research I believe to be the best for the FD


- CATZ XLO (http://www.excellentperformance.com/)

There is also the Hella Micro DE HID but it is way out of price.

I would also appreciate it if you could specify if there are any particular mounting difficulties or issues.

Yeah haven't seen much of a choice...

Go with the HID's in the stock pop-up housings. It will be the most cost effective lighting upgrade for you. I had PIAA 55/65w superwhite bulbs before. They were an improvement over stock, but not enough.

I then added driving lights, PIAA 55/65w. These were useless.

So I bought a 5000k HID kit for $340.00 and I love them! They are only single beam - I didn't want to spring for dual beams($650-850). I don't even miss the not having high beams. These lights are super bright, that my gf thought they changed all of the freeway (turtle) reflectors...My driving lights are now just used for daytime running lights. I may stick some HID's in them if I can find a deal.

I put a cheap ($40) fog light set in place of the stock fog lights and it helped improve lighting but I still want more, also considering HID upgrade but the PIAA and CATZ lights are to much for to little. Unless the aux lights are HID.

I have these in my car as I also thought of the poor lighting of the stock headlights and usefulness of my stock foglights.

Overall I am most pleased as these driving lights are connected to the stock foglight switch but powered directly (you do not need the auxilliary lights to be on for the XLO's to operate.

Beam pattern is good even by themselves even when mounted so low. Lighting is great when used in conjunction with the headlights.

In the future I'll be geting HID's and getting the upgraded XLO bulbs.
