I been talking to a few companies about lightened rotars for our cars. Would they help or hurt? can somone fill me in so I can decide whether this is somthing I wana look further into.

it should help like a lighter flywheel or rims allowing the engine to rev quicker. i often thought about that. like an aluminum or magnesium core with chromoly outer. of course designing it for the different expansion rates. what about titanium? a lot of options. i'm curious as to what all mazda has experimented with.

A few companies already make em. Pineapple racing has em. Not sure how much they want for em tho :(

Yes, Pineapple Racing can lighten rotors. What does it cost? Quite some time ago, Rob mentioned to me that he could do them for only a few hundred Dollars per set in volume (say, 10 or so sets at a time). This is significantly less than what Racing Beat charges, to say the least. Mainly, though, it's a racing thing. Usually, there are a lot better ways to invest your money in upgrades. Put the money, instead, into his proprietary oil mods and/or a nice streetport. :-) If you serously want lighter rotors, however, give Rob a call at (503) 233-3878 or shoot him an email at rob@pineappleracing.com .
